Do you think Pittsburgh's reputation will take a hit if Trump wins reelection because of Pennsylvania?

What reputation are you referring to?

It’s already an undesirable area that people aren’t moving to.

No, Trump's only path to PA is in the backwater Pennsyltucky part of the state.

Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are solidly democrat so I can't see how this would impact the city. The surrounding suburbs and counties reputation would remain the same.

Actually, the "enlightened" members of this sub-forum claim the city isn't declining in population anymore despite the official U.S. Census Estimates suggesting we'll likely be around 299,000 people in 2020.

The truth is often unpopular, and they’ll deny it because they have a need to defend where they live. The numbers will show the decline, and excuses will be used to try to defend the facts, but the census won’t lie.

I don't think so. There have been a few 'right-wing' protests downtown at the City-County Building. The Second Amendment protests and some 'Re-Open PA' protests. Right-wing protesters stand on the sidewalk - they don't block the street. Vehicular right-wing protests obey red lights.

Left-wing protests downtown make it a point to stop traffic, or to assault or intimidate other citizens, and they certainly don't respect red lights.

I see it. I work in that part of downtown.

It all stems from the idea of American exceptionalism.
Conservatives believe that America is exceptionally unique in terms of our liberties and that those must be protected.
Liberals believe that America is exceptionally flawed and must be transformed into what the rest of the world is like. At the end of the day, liberals want to destroy the fundamental ideals that make America unique.

I don't think there will be a nationwide lockdown. There are too many conservative Governors who won't tolerate that - from Trump or from Biden.
However, you best bet your last dollar that by the middle of the month His Majesty Tom Wolf will have his Kingdom of Pennsylvania locked down.

LMAO - no. How could it? There isn't an elected Republican in the City of Pittsburgh's government.
What will happen if El President is re-elected, is that our most esteemed comrades in the People's Republic of the East End will probably increase their resentment of the suburban fringes and the exurbs and that they will double down with passing local ordinances that nullify state or federal laws that they disagree with and they will do their best to turn the East End into a mimic of Portland or Seattle.

Let’s not kid ourselves tho. There is really one super liberal tiny dot even in the city. This is roughly a half dozen neighborhoods in the east end and 2-3 neighborhoods around the mexican war streets and Allegheny West. The democrats in the rest of this city fit the old blue collar lunch pail democrats.

The more affluent neighborhoods like mt lebanon have shifted left while the Kennedy townships and green trees have gone right. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me to see a Republican presidential candidate win Allegheny county by a close margin in the next 10 to 12 years. Tom Corbett won Allegheny county for his first term for governor getting over 200,000 votes.

Joe Biden represents the old blue collar democrat. It wouldn’t surprise me if this is the last election for PA to lean blue. The growth in Philly is not going to offset the stagnation and decline. And the state will probably be middle right. We may start to see the beginnings of a political realignment. North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and maybe Texas trend blue in the same election as pa, Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin. Which the latter states will trend right from here on out while the former trend left.

Pa doesn’t have a great reputation outside of the state either. It’s known for corruption, pollution, being overly expensive with a subpar economy.

When you’ve already been looted by the “loving and tolerant” in May, it’s best to take precautions from it happening again.
