Wonder what our federal government will do if an American Sheriff is offed by our "friendly neighbors to the South"? Probably still apologize for Arizonal's state law, and criticize the Sheriff for carrying a gun.

in my opinion this is a valid post and public concern. what is strange is like other disturbing things going on in and near america---- its gets the poo poo treatment on CDF. see the FEMA detention center posts and CDF responses to the allegations. in my short 62 years on the planet of one thing i am sure, CNN does not tell the entire story.

You must pay the US Treasury a special $200 per firearm tax. You must have a chief law enforcement officier (CLEO) in your area that will sign off on your form 4 (application to transfer a NFA firearm).

Once you find a transferable NFA firearm that you want to purchase, your CLEO will do the first back ground check, take 2 sets of FBI F258 fingerprint cards (with your prints) and sign the rear of the filled out form 4's (2 required per firearm).
You then mail the 2 form 4's, 2 fingerprint cards and a check to the BATF. The BATF sends the fingerprint cards to the FBI to do a back ground check on you and compare your prints against their data base. The BATF checks their data base to see if the firearm you are purchasing is legal, transferable and owned by the person or firearms dealer (FFL). The whole process takes from 6-12 weeks. Once you are approved, one of the form 4's will be returned and then you can go and pick up your new or slightly used NFA firearm.

What do you think a class 3 license is?!

Proof? That there are ONLY 700 NFA weapons in the U.S. at one time! Please, if you think there are only 700 class 3 weapons in the U.S. at one time, you're not only greatly mistaken, but should get a job as a comedian.

The Republican narrative just flat out stinks. But this president methodically is working through this country's problems, especially those left behind and created by the 8 horrific years of Bush.
Figures! this is your opinion, mine only this President has a MUSLIM, AND ILLEGAL AGENDA! And to hek with what is right for the rest of us.

We should not even be having these serious discussions. This problem should have been dealt with such a long time ago. This is the product of not doing a thing years and years ago, by not wanting our borders secure. Our politicians past and present are somewhat responsible. When will we get someone in office who see's this problem for exactly what it is.

One reason the libs are so unbelievable, is that they won't admit to ANYTHING being a problem...that IS a problem.
Would you all support, if this IS real, giving the owners of those guns a pathway to U.S. citizenship? Feel bad for them?
I have to wonder....
No kidding sherlock.

1. Yes it most likely is true despite what one moronic judge decided. (You mean the cartels paid off legal intermediaries to get a hold of the weapons. wow how shocking. ).
Unless the Feds just went through the trouble of this sting to divert attention from their own heinous operations selling the weapons directly to the cartels, as some of our more imaginative posters have suggested.

2. Who the hell said the drug cartels are not a problem? Are you man (or woman) enough to admit that the U.S. plays a large role in the blame? We supply many of the weapons and we buy all the drugs. This is why there is a problem in the first place. This is why drug cartels exist. It is not rocket science.

So we may indeed need to send our army down there to help out at some point. But until we take a hard look at the ease with which weapons are allowed to flow south and take real action about our nation of drug addicts, not much is going to change honey.
