I was wondering just what the man is so worried about? Does he think one gay man bunked with two straight men would 'turn the straight men gay'?
He is probably inclined to protecting the gay person.
Imagine for a moment, if you will, what two straight homophobic males would do, to one homosexual male, if they were indeed allowed/forced to bunk together ..

I would imagine, with the discipline inherent within the military, the "two straight homophobic males" would do their jobs, allow the gay guy to do his and and keep their opinions to themselves. They might also actually learn that the gay guy isn't any kind of 'threat' to their masculinity.
Both straight men and gay men are there to do a job. That should come above everything else. Gay men are not there to hit on the straight guys or stare at them in the showers. The majority of gay men are going to shower and not risk doing something inappropriate such as "eyeballing" other guys in the shower. Military men must put up with many situations that are uncomfortable so I don't understand why this would be any different. Honestly, they should be mentally tough enough to shower with another gay man and realize he is not there to have sex......he's there to shower, he's there to serve his country, he's there to support his fellow troops, etc. There is nothing to fear showering with gay men......they are doing it already at the moment and nothing bad is happening.
It would be very difficult for a heterosexual male taking a shower with attractive females not to get an erection. Well, there is a good chance that he won't get aroused if he is 95, or just impotent
It does not mean that he will just grab one of two of the females and have sex with them, so in a way he would be controlling his passions, but not his....loin cloth from raising.
Ok, the next time you happen to go to the spa or public gym or YMCA...if it makes you feel phycologically better to make believe that all the males around you are 120% hetro in thought, and thinking of biblical hyms while they shower, with halos over their head, than more power to ya....

They would already know that but still would treat him as an inferior nonetheless.
Women are/were treated much the same way, and males and females were never allowed to bunk together.
I'm amazed that gay people always insist that their lifestyle is viewed as a "threat" by those who would be straight .. when in reallity, the lifestyle itself is only viewed as an oddity.
The gay lifestyle has never been a threat to anyone, ever .. gay people do themselves an injustice by always putting themselves into the victim roll, using the argument that their lifetstyle is a threat for instance, as opposed to looking at it for what it really is.

Considering another human being as somehow "inferior" is as sickening to me as considering him/her a "threat" for no sensible reason. There are physical differences between men and women that require a bit of privacy. There's no such difference between a gay male and and a straight male. And there's no such thing as a "gay lifestyle"! The definition of lifestyle from dictionary.com: life·style
/ˈlaɪfˌstaɪl/ [lahyf-stahyl]
–noun the habits, attitudes, tastes, moral standards, economic level, etc., that together constitute the mode of living of an individual or group.
So, tell me, what part of that definition describes all - or even most - gays? Gays are as diverse in their habits, attitudes, tastes, moral standards and economic levels as are the rest of us.

Left handedness was once viewed as an "oddity" and was associated with the devil's doing.........
I wonder why gays are in "the victim's role". Perhaps, it's because they have been unfairly discriminated against, beaten, killed, treated like second rate citizens, harassed, and treated like crap by a large number of folks who have notoriously treated people different than them horribly over history. Do you expect them to roll over and take all the horrible things that are done to them?
When the races were integrated in the military, did they ask white soldiers how gross it would be to shower with blacks?
What a shame that they're dragging this out like this. The leaders (Congress, the Pentagon, the President, etc.) should just make up their minds and put the new rules in place.
they didnt need to because they already knew the answer to thAT
