And, no, today was not a media produced false flag deal. Our "friends" in the middle east spend large parts of their waking hours devising plans to eliminate us. Anyone not willing to face this fact needs to grow up and face reality. We are at war, and have been with Islam since the early 1990's.

Excellent post. We ARE at war with Islam, but we are discouraged to admit it lest we "offend" them. Not just them, but their "defenders", our own so-called citizens who, when confronted with the truth, stomp off with their see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil attitudes. We're singing Kumbaya and taking it up the butt at the same time.

Glad to see folks at least admit this. Now if only all those folks who admit to being at war with an entire religion would ask WHY are we at war?

Americans eagerly anticipate and cling to every single world Bin Laden states as reasoning, but totally reject the only time he gave a reason as to why he did what he did.

US troops stationed and based in their most holy nation, a nation which by the way produced 15 of the 17 people who destroyed our buildings, a nation which each and everyone of you support by filling up your gas tank each week.

US support of Israel, both financially and politically

US abandoning the Afghan people after they fought the Soviets.

Americans will dismiss each and every one of the reasons given because it provides cognitive dissonance to the narrative they believe. As we all know how powerful peoples beliefs are.

Some are afraid to admit it. Those who are not are called bigots by most liberals. What too many fail to understand it that Islam is political as much as it is religious. The political portion is greatly violent in order to get a foothold. Islam is not even a religion of peace in Muslim countries because of the political factions within.

Agree with TNhilltopper about the mess resulting from the abandonment of the Afgahn people following their fight against the Soviets. The other side of the coin is that we had not used them to fight the Soviets to begin with perhaps the Soviets would have taken out the Taliban. Now we are spending ourselves to destruction in the Middle East the same as we provoked the USSR to do in the '80s.

I have been flying alot and due to these feelings (sure I have them too) I would make eye contact with people from these cultures. If we are scared they are more scared. They are kind and warm. I encourage us all to maintain human to human contact. It is the way we will win these wars. They are no better and no worse than us.

I know I've had discussions about this with some others and at the time, our actions were geared towards the greater danger. Its easy today to see that our intervention into one aspect of a situation ended up leading to our current conflicts, but at the time, who really knew.

It is also interesting to note that we do seem like we are falling into the same trap of spending ourselves to oblivion like the former Soviets did, and whats more, in the very country they did as well. I think it is a lesson we should examine far more deeply, not that I expect the press to offer us a lot.

You and Sarah and Newt and the rest of the neocon gang of thugs and torturers may be at war with Islam, compadre, but don't speak for me, please.
Bullcrap, we kept meddling in the middle east even after the Beirut bombing. Of course it would be great if we could pull up the stakes and leave the middle east for good. However, we've had the hornet's nest stirred up since the late 70's with the revolution in Iran and our proxy war with the Soviets in Afghanistan. Two military engagements in Iraq has cemented the deal.
You can point the finger at our government all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the militant faction of Islam (which nobody knows how to quantify that) is at war with the west. So, compadre, what this means for you is this: Some lowlife thug with Al quaeda or offshoot of alquaeda doesn't care what your views are. Bottom line you're an American and therefore a target. Remember that next time you're sitting next to Mohammed on a flight inbounds to Detroit and he's trying to light his PETN loaded underwear. Or, you're taking the spouse, kids, whatever to NYC and someone decides that Times Square makes a good soft target for a car bomb.
