Finally the homophobes have been handed a defeat on this issue, and they are outraged. Well, the U.S. has finally joined the modern world where already 25 nations permit gays to serve in the military including Israel where a first rate military is essential to its very survival.
I think it's hilarious about the showering issue, where these straight males who are taught not to fear bullets and close combat are all going to get into a tizzy about being looked at in the shower.

What a wonderful day for America. I applaud this move.

Here's the roll call:

All Senate Democrats voted for repeal except 1 - Manchin (D-WV) did not vote.

The 2 independent senators both voted for repeal.

7 Republican senators voted for repeal - Brown (R-MA), Burr (R-NC), Collins (R-ME), Ensign (R-NV), Kirk (R-IL), Murkowski (R-AK), Snowe (R-ME).

3 Republican senator did not vote - Bunning (R-KY), Gregg (R-NH), Hatch (R-UT).

The other 31 Republican senators voted against repeal.
Yea!! one of the most pressing issues of our time , finally being rectified, now we can finally have open conversation about our sex lives with out fear of retribution ........now, everybody in the fox hole!!

There is no perversion per se in being a black person. They must do something perverse.

Homo-sex is always a perverse act, and even deemed deviant behaviour by every nation throughout history.

Some of those laws have been re written to accomidate the perversion, but they are still perverse.
What? You're bisexual and think that same sex behavior is perverse? Try it sometime, you might like it

Try it? I thought it wasn't a choice?

Some say you either are or aren't?

Bisexual is a deviation from the norm. Not something to try.

1) Gays serve in the military now already and have for a long time.

2) DADT has only been in place since 1993

3) They aren't going to flaunt it anymore than a man talking about his gf or wife back home. A homosexual can speak of his loved one.

4) Females are in the military now and straight men can control themselves and not foaming at the mouth for sex the same way gay men will not be foaming at the mouth (esp. since they are already in the military.

5)The stereotype gay you picture in your head is not the type of gay that would join anyway.

I am a straight guy who is considering the military. This doesn't change anything at all in my decision because there are already gays in the military. If someone is going to put their lives on the line for our country, then it shouldn't matter if they are gay or straight.

There are gay people everywhere. You can't avoid them so get used to it. I have.

I'm not sure what world you're living in, but most people in 2010 aren't as homophobic as you seem to think.

Yes, but being attracted to someone of the same sex is not. It just happens naturally.

Why this still has to be explained to some people - I don't know. I guess they're not very smart.

No. Now we can finally stop wasting taxpayer dollars on discharging trained soldiers for no good reason. The military lost over 10% of their foreign-language speakers because of DADT. What a stupid waste.
