So if someone got a serious disease that wasn't as a result of a lifestyle choice, then their only alternative is to die or go bankrupt? The pre-existing conditions rule is the reason why most insurance companies disgust me, and I would never stick up for them.
The problem is you have this enlightenment, that your insurance provider is the/your doctor.
It is just there to help with a massive cost out of your pocket.
What was massive at one time, is now the deductible.

Their alternative is to get insurance BEFORE the serious disease.
