That implies that they pay 0 taxes. Gasoline tax, and several others all have investment factors in the country.
Your hanging on to gasoline tax as an "investment in the country!" Sorry but that is laughable.

Go to Europe and then you can pay gas tax and invest in their country.

Again, it is understood when it is stated x% of the poplulation pay no taxes that they are not refering to a gas tax.

I don't know much about the trucking industry but I would assume that whoever owns the product the driver is delivering is paying for the fuel, or a certain $$ per mile.

So yes, if this trucker is paying no income tax he certainly has less of a burden than the rest of us who are paying his way.

Right, it is more like only 48% pay federal income tax. Those taking out of the system exceed those contributing. Like a boat where the water rushes in faster than it can be pumped out this boat can't float in such a manner much longer.

You are still assuming that the majority of those not paying into the system by an income tax are automatically getting some sort of handouts, I seriously doubt that it the truth of the matter.

I do not understand how the fair tax would look like the current tax. We would not even need to IRS or a reason to file

we have to rethink taxes and go to the fair tax. everyone is then invested in the country. everyone has more take home.We will have a bunch of tax lawyers needing work as well as IRS agents.

Close the borders. Aggressively use the present laws to go after those that employ illegals. Deport illegals. Then make a simple work visa program matching companies with those that want to work.

I'm just using it as one example

Taxation in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Social security, medicare, excise taxes, import taxes, etc.

Each and everytime you buy almost anything in this country, you're paying a tax.

The basic problem is the investors that own 90% of the country are not paying enough tax on their non wage income. The rest of us are taxed to pay for thier fortune and that is simply wrong.

BTW some of the OP's suggestions make a lot of sense.
