I've been in more than one major natural disaster where looting did take place and I don't recall seeing anyone looting while carrying a Bible or signing songs about Jesus. While standing guard of my family's property and neighborhood during/after Katrina there was only one thing that 100% of the looters had in common and it surely wasn't religion.
What did all the looters have in common?

The photographer said he believed that they have found the objects. Not that he saw them simply find them. He also never mentions whether or not he saw the person looting. Again, this is simply reconfirming the bias.

They lived in a Democrat utopia with lots of entitlements. Outside of that I can't think of anything, can you?

Japan has the value of shame. If you do something bad then you not only disgrace yourself, you disgrace your entire family.

Possible contributing factors to why there is low crime in Japan-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan
"Japan's population is estimated at around 127.3 million.[2] Japanese society is linguistically and culturally homogeneous with small populations of foreign workers."

"according to the UNHCR, in 2007 Japan accepted just 41 refugees for resettlement, while the US took in 50,000."

"More than 99 percent of the population speaks Japanese as their first language."

Well, Haiti is just as culturally homogeneous and took in NO refugees, as they are a net producer of refugees.

Japanese society is a highly developed, educated civilization with a strong honor code. That is their social strength. That is why there is no looting.

Didn't read through all of this, but this thread is pointless and inaccurate. The Japanese are looting (cash & tobacco). They're also scamming their fellow neighbors out of money. See the thread "Guess Who's Looting". Wonder why this isn't getting attention from the US media?

Ah, those pesky 10 commandments of their religion.
Doesn't stop them from taking the moral high ground (on quicksand).

This disaster makes Katrina look like a day at the park. Yet, you would never know how horrible things were from the civility and calm that Japanese citizens display during this horrible catastrophe.

If they can conduct themselves in such an honorable way, maybe there's something citizens from other countries can learn from Japan?
Its well document why its not chaotic. Has to do with the culture. Do a google, its been covered in the news media a few times.
