In any case, prefer in one hand, poop in the other. It's like...whatever.
Doesn't surprise me that much. I've been around some people who think like that. Honestly, I have to beware of thinking like that. I look at it like this: Thought--word--deed. I'm not saying something like that will happen, but it is something to consider.
I remember being told by someone that I should judge all racist persons individually. The frame of mind being "most people are like that because of fear or feeling threatened, and they might not be all bad". I could understand what said person might be thinking, but I have to look out for me. Anyone with a bigoted frame of mind, I have to consider it could be a threat to me.
1. The past definitely has a bearing on the present.
2. Just because you don't like the truth doesn't make it untrue. If you live in the U.S.A you have a right to know the true history of the country you live in.
(I will not have my children believing nonsense and calling some dead white guys who would have owned them a "father." Please. )
3. Maybe the U.S.A is heavily scrutinized over it's history because of our nasty habit of finger pointing and interjecting into the business of other countries.
Agree, 100%. I aim to teach my children US history and not just the parts that the mainstream educational system finds worthy of repeating. They won't only learn about black history in the month of February (when the focus is primarily on inventors and NOT on the entire subject of blacks in the US from slavery to post-CRM).

Sure. But those alive today should not be blamed for the sins of the past, in which they were no part of. I can't help that this was the country of my birth anymore than you can. Nor will I apologize for it, or for being white.

Ahhh yes. But I sure as hell don't believe everything that the public schools taught, or currently teach.

That's just it. They're dead. Yet they set up the system as to how a government of the people should be run. You are also afforded those rights in 2014 due to the Civil Rights Movement correcting those flaws. And rightfully so. I'm not sure what more you can ask for?

I won't argue there. Personally I think we need to stop trying to police the world, and spreading "democracy" to other nations who don't want it, and focus on our own country. George Washington warned about getting involved in entangling alliances of other nations.

Who says you're being blamed for anything? I've always found this viewpoint weird. No one is blaming YOU for the mistakes of past white people. In addition, no one is expecting YOU to pay them anything for the past injustices.
I would not want any blacks living near me......but, not many people want to live this far from town.
Is that what you mean by "around"??
That is what I mean by around. So you mean ALL of them, including the ones who are decent and don't cause problems? You make no differentiation between decent Black people and bad Black people? I ask because I do. I have had some disturbing experiences with alot of White people. Do I go and say "I don't want any white people around me"? No. I differentiate between the bigoted persons I encountered, and those who are decent. It takes critical thinking to do that.
By the way, some people might want to live that far from town. I've met Black people who have moved all the way into the rural areas around no one but White people.

I won't take the chance.
It just would not be worth it........again.....not many people live here at all.
So if our pols followed the constitution to the letter, my children would have the same opportunities as Bill Gates' children?
Sure, the potential is there, it means the government is less intrusive. Like I said, life isn't always fair, and nothing in life is guaranteed, so there is no guarantee that your children would have the same luxuries as Bill Gate's children. That's something we all have to figure out how to obtain on our own.
