Weird because the first link listed not drinking enough water as one of the main problems....
From the first link:
During periods of extreme heat, heat-related illnesses can be prevented by avoiding strenuous outdoor activities, drinking adequate amounts of fluid, avoiding alcohol consumption, wearing lightweight clothing, and using air-conditioning.
The above list is not necessarily in order of importance.
When to see a doctor If you think you have heat cramps or the beginning signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion, first try to cool yourself and replenish your water and salt levels. If your condition has progressed past heat cramps and heat exhaustion and you feel any of the symptoms of heatstroke, seek immediate medical attention.

Yes,cool yourself AND drink fluids-no A/C mentioned...Cooling yourself even in high humidity/high heat is as simple as not being as active.
Seriously, this is pretty bizarre when so many people seem to believe that without A/C people could not live in hot climates...
I have my doubts about Americans and their ability to live in hard times from such threads.

What do you think "FIRST (emphasis mine) try to cool yourself" means?
My daughter got heat exhaustion in Brazil this spring. The first thing they did for her was get her into the A/C.
