S&P downgrades U.S. credit rating from AAA - USATODAY.com

Both parties are to blame, Democrats had a chance last year and the year before to put forward a long term deficit reduction plan and budget, as well as raising the debt ceiling.

But the message from the S&P about our credit downgrade was specifically

A. A unwillingness to talk about revenue increases

and

B. The fight to raise the debt ceiling.

Both of which are clearly, as of late, from the TEA party. Remember, TEA party representatives said they wanted to lower the debt ceiling, or not raise it at all.

S&P's statement was blunt in its assessment.
"We lowered our long-term rating on the U.S. because we believe that the prolonged controversy over raising the statutory debt ceiling and the related fiscal policy debate indicate that further near-term progress containing the growth in public spending, especially on entitlements, or on reaching an agreement on raising revenues is less likely than we previously assumed and will remain a contentious and fitful process," the ratings firm said.

Washington has to work together, revenues increased, spending cut, entitlements reformed, period.

Time to kick GOP and their tea party contingent out of Congress. They are wrecking the country with their nonsense, after doing it for 8 horrific years under Bush.
Um.. Your boy in the WH only changed course because of the TEA party. His intentions were to run trillion dollar deficits for a decade or longer.

Now how much forethought was he and his ilk using with that one?

None.

Your leader isn't a leader at all but he will be labeled the worst president in the history of time because of his utterly incompetent miscalculations.

And yes, black people will be vilified for his incompetence for a very long time.

Democrats will be vilified for a very long time and it's entirely possible you'll never have a chance at leading anything ever again.

Maybe it's time to stop seeing things only in black and white.

No it wasn't, it was spending cash as fast as it possibly could by running, jumping, diving, and finally parachuting 3,000 page bills when it should have been cutting.

Ohh,, you're of the thought process that everything was cool up until a week ago.

No worries, that's exactly what your "leader" thought too.

Time to hand the keys over to someone else and shut the door on your way out.

Democrats and many Republicans once again sold out the American people, particularly those younger ones that are left to hold the bill. A brand new $2.4 trillion credit card, with spending INCREASES every year in the foreseeable future is NOT what the TEA PARTY were promoting. Republicans sold out and gave Obama a gift.

I seriously think taxing the richer folks may have given a long term plan towards putting a dent on the national debt. I am not really sure if the super-rich would run away with their assets if they have to pay more taxes, an argument used against taxing them.

And clearly, S&P says the inefficiency of Washington factored in the downgrade, thanks to the pig-headedness of the GOP and the tea party.

And let's not forget the infamous stimulus package, some of which went into the alternate energy sector, for example, which has completely collapsed. Case in point: A123 systems opened their IPO at over 15 bucks, and they sit at 4 bucks now, reaching 52-week lows every quarter with steepening losses, despite millions of stimulus money, literally money went down a hole.
What went wrong was that in 2006 or so, Pelosi and Reid became the leaders of the Congress with Democrat Majorities, In 2008, America's fate was sealed with the election of Obama the Devestator

Actually, it's Barry and the Dems who have spent more than any President in U.S. history.

Spending. That's it. Spending.

For all those who blame the Tea Party, we're not the only country in spending trouble. Spain and Greece sure don't have Tea Parties, but they do have too much debt and spending.

People have to start opening their yes, the problem is spending and debt.

Actually Greece has a spending problem because they don't collect taxes.

Greek Wealth Is Everywhere but Tax Forms - NYTimes.com

Kind of sounds like the TEA party, they want massive government programs for retirement and healthcare, but no taxes for them.

Yes, yes, of course, and you were so distraught and felt so guilty you voluntarily returned your portion of the tax cut to your government, right?

Yeah, right.
+1

I would think some people would start not believing the "World's Gonna End and the Economy will collapse if the Gov't doesn't do this....." routines.

I was sure wrong!
