We can also look at Hollywood's response to (and petitions on their behalf of) Roman Polanski and Woody Allen as cues to the lack of morality on this issue. Roman Polanski drugs and then rapes (orally, vaginally and anally) an 11 year old girl but he's a great filmmaker so "let it slide" and "his next film could make me a bigger star" is the attitude
I believe it's possible. In this industry of the "casting couch", why is it so hard to believe that it wouldn't also attract pedophiles who try to get the child actors away from their parents then give them alcohol and drugs to make it easier to get their hands on them. Hell, this is the same industry that gave child rapist Roman Polanski a standing ovation.
Considering America's fascination with youth, the presence of those who are willing to exploit others and their 'situations' for monetary gain, and some people's willingness to overlook significant character flaws and errors in judgement for the sake of entertainment and the money to made from that...I am not surprised.
I don't buy it. I haven't looked up the stats.....but don't they say most children are molested by family members and close family friends?
I don't think Hollywood has anymore pedophilia than any other segment of society.
FYI, child actors (who are working) usually spend more time on set and at the studio then they spend at their own homes so their managers, agents, publicists are like "close family" and since these children (and their families) want to "take it to the next level" they are often very beholden to the ones who have given them their big break or cast them in that breakout role, etc.
Trust me, there is quite a bit of an appetite for "deviant" sexual behavior in Hollywood that will NEVER EVER make it to TMZ or Access Hollywood.
The parents of these children gave up their parental authority for monetary gain. You take parents like Ron Howard and you are not going to have your child victimized...if you drop the ball as a parent it leads to trouble in any industry!
For every "star" I'm sure there are hundreds who end up drug addicts spit out the bottom of the porn industry left to fend for themselves on the streets.
I saw this special and have no doubt it happened. I think back then parents gave a lot of parental rights to the studios in order to be "rich" and live the good life. I honestly think they thought the kids would be taken care of when in reality those kids were taken advantage of. It's very sad.
