No surprise here. The real surprise, is that this has not broken wide open years ago. The problem is that this is accepted as "normal", so the kids, already precocious, know the scoop. These kids know, that they are responsible for making money. And that there is an unspoken code, "your parents left you here to get the part...". Let the performance begin.

And Polanski would have ended up in prison if he hadn't fled the country.

Many priests and coaches have never even been prosecuted at all because of the "good ole boy" network.....you can't just point the finger at the entertainment business.

I fully believe it. There are some horror stories floating around about Nickolodean producer Dan Schneider as well, among others. Then you watch some clips from his shows and yeah, there are scenes with kids with almost overt innuendo. Used to be a bunch of such creepy clips on YT but nearly all have been pulled.

My hubby and I went to a meeting the other night that the church has started. Anyone who is going to be around children or have anything to do with children at church or school has to take this training.

They showed films of 2 or 3 adults that had been abused when a child at school and church, then how to recognise a pedophile and what to do about it if you suspect someone or become aware of a child who may have been abused.

The training tells adults to never leave a child along with any adult at any time. To check any out of the way places that a child may be taken by an adult away from others and make sure those places are kept locked.

I and my hubby don't have any dealings with the children at church or school, our kids are grown, but we were interested in learning what they are teaching. I am glad this is happening and it is sad so much has to be done to keep kids safe but that is the world we live in now.

If you look at the self destructive nature of Hollywood child celebs it's not too difficult to believe.

You do have a point there, and I don't doubt it's prevalent in the child acting world. As for modeling, my siblings & I were child models and never faced that crap... but that's not to say it doesn't exist. So what do you suggest should be done about that? Abolish acting roles for children, or just investigate/monitor them more closely? I'm asking seriously, btw, since I'm not really sure where the OP is going with this.
