That won't be any different from what Israel has been doing, albeit dragging the USA with it.
So there would be no change, just a reversal of roles. Why would we want that? Given that, shouldn't Hamas be made to recognize Israel in exchange for a state if there is to be any change?

So then we should get rid of Israel? Then it would just turn to the Israeli people who would be slaughtered.
You're offering an intellectual exercise about why things exist and whether they should or not instead of dealing with the present reality that they do.

What role reversal. You want a role, just not one that addresses the problems we have created over last several decades, but one that continues it.

If they can't stand on their own, so be it. Why should I care?

The role reversal of having one country exist and the other not exist, Why is it preferable to you to simply switch the two?

Why doesn't that standard apply to the Palestinians? Why should the world get involved?

It's pointless as it has no relevance to the current state of the world. It blends two different discussions, on that was relevant decades ago and trying to mix it into a current conversation. It's the difference between theory and reality.

Where did I demand a switch? You're the one who is into oppressive politics, much less in foreign land.

Does it? Should they? It seems you don't want to apply the same standards. Israel dictates your whim.

It may be pointless from an anti-intellectual point of view, and for those who want to dwell in denial. You can't address a problem without recognizing its root cause. It will keep coming back to bite in the rear.
I see no reasons why an American would be opposed to ANYONE declaring a state of their own. That's not our business. What the Palestinians do is up to the Palestinians, and i see no reason why i shouldn't recognize their state just like i recognize Spain or Australia.
Now how the Palestinians go about doing it is another issue....but if they can find a way to achieve it, fine with me. If they like it, i love it.

Does this apply to regions within the USA?
Or South Africa?
Sure. Then once they're a state, we can kill them good and proper the next time they lob deadly rockets at Jewish citizens of Israel. They can no longer claim to be pathetic refugees.
Uh..."WE" can kill them good and proper the next time they have a skirmish with Israel? Who in the hell is "WE?"
Why does it matter,if you are all for one group declaring a state of their own why would you be suspicious of another group?

Now why would you say South Africa? I'm suspicious and i'm sure i already know the answer, but i'll be fair by letting you answer first.
Because there is an independence movement there, one a lot of knee jerk types would oppose because of skin color.
But again,what does it matter?
