The issue is not your feelings. The issue is that the baby needs to eat. If you feel that getting a flash of skin or even nipple while this act is performed is offensive that's YOUR problem not mine. Look away and be done with it. Nursing in public is a legal act and one that every woman has the right to do. If you feel otherwise go lobby to get the laws changed.
When we go out with the kid, we put a bottle of breast milk (pumped) in the diaper bag as well as one of those little 'to go' bottles of formula. It's called planning.

Good for you. You do know some kids will not take a bottle. It's not poor parenting, either. DD (a bottle refuser) worked at a day care where some kids, even after months, would not take a bottle.

I get that. But to imply that every person whipping out their breast in public has a kid that won't take the bottle...I don't think that is intellectually honest.
If the argument is that the kid MUST eat (and they must indeedy do!), then you can plan for it under most circumstances.
Frankly, I have no issue with public breastfeeding; however, to say most people have no choice is wrong, too.
I have no responsibility to plan how to feed my baby in order to adhere to someone else's sad fears and mistaken beliefs about what constitutes proper public behavior.
People should be incredibly grateful when they see a nursing mother. Nursing reduces medical costs and results in healthier children. We should do everything we can to encourage women to nurse their children. Instead we have people in this thread whining that they saw a flash of boob somewhere and their feelers were hurt.
