The combination of bad sanitation and unwashed bodies may be causing it.
Outbreaks of tuberculosis, a disease that used to afflict many people in the 19th century, including Chopin and Doc Holliday, have cropped up at Occupy Atlanta. Something called "Zuccotti Lung" has appeared at the Occupy Wall Street site. The symptoms appear to consist of uncontrolled wheezing, vomiting, and diarrhea.

For a group of people who are pretty sure that American society is messed up and needs changes, the occupiers have certainly proven themselves incapable of governing themselves in a civilized fashion. They seem to have recreated in miniature societies that are part Marxist communes and part medieval towns, with all the problems inherent in both.

None of the occupiers seems to have been in the Boy Scouts. The Boy Scouts teaches the proper way to maintain a camp, including sanitation and the necessity of digging latrines and then filling them properly after they are used. These common outdoors skills seem to have escaped the city slicker protestors who have gathered to whine about their lot in live.

Let's try something new this day!! That would be a quite large thing called the TRUTH!

Let's see it is not the "occupy camp" or the "occupiers" per se.....rather it is the shelter they are using where there are also homeless individuals residing.

"The Fulton County Health Department confirmed Wednesday that residents at the homeless shelter where protesters have been occupying have contracted the drug-resistant disease. WGCL reports that a health department spokeswoman said there is a possibility that both Occupy Atlanta protesters and the homeless people in the shelter may still be at risk since tuberculosis is contracted through air contact."

Psssst...guess what? I saw rats around the Lincoln Memorial on the day Glenn Beck held his rally a couple of years ago.

Yes, I was there.

No, the Beckbots didn't have anything to do with the rats any more than did the Occupy folks. The rats just live there all the time.

Wouldn't it be common sense, that if you stayed at a homeless shelter, that those people would possibly have something.

These protestors are suppose to be educated and wanting something better in life. To invade a homelesss shelter, doesn't show they have any intelligents going on.

Yes, your truth, showed me these people are dummer, than I gave them credit for...............

You realize that going out in the general public can and does in fact expose you to such.

You see, it is not MY truth but rather THE truth. You wanted to tell less than the full story.

So according to the left handed occupy protestor supporters it isn't the filth and garbage they are living in that is causing the rats to come calling at all. The entire city of DC is just a rat infested apocalypse in the US that knows no bounds. Rats everywhere according to the left handers. Do you people actually read the nonsense you post?? LOL. They are tossing the loons out of the des moines capital here soon I read in the paper. The only ones complaining are the homeless folks who are left there. Well and the folks who live around the park and want to use it for their kids to play in after school since the weather has been so nice. Nothing left but homeless squatters. This is what your ridiculous protest has come to. The organizer even left a month ago but is now coming back to get on TV for when they take the dump down. It only cost taxpayers 75K around here.

The stupidity of some of these responses to actually back the OWS movement....

Well, barns, farms, food processing plants, and the homeless....they all have rats....

Well, the good thing is we are NOT talking about a farm or food processing plants or the homeless....

This restaurant was open long before the ows crowd showed up, right? How long was that homeless shelter there, and so it's just coincidence that AFTER the ows crowd showed up all this stuff happens after being there for.,...how many years....

Oh, and the city has not picked up the trash in a while, well maybe there would not be so much trash if the ows crowd was not their...
