I can remember presidents back as far as Eisenhower. I remember how the country was divided during the Johnson years, I can remember how the country was divided during the Nixon years. In all those years I cannot remember a time when the country has been more divided than it is now. This president had the potential to unite the country and heal some very old wounds. Instead he has chosen to create an environment to cause those wounds to bleed once again. His rhetoric incites division, yet, he continues. I hope to live long enough to see the day once again when this country can unite behind one president and behind this country. I don't think I will live long enough to see that day.

I'm supposed to pretend that that you dont understand the part about uniting rests with the majoity, not the minority

That you seem to think it rests exclusively with either side is your first problem.

It wasn't Obama that gave a blood oath to Grover not to negotiate.

The only thing I'm seeing in this thread is that the only people causing division in the country are the loons who bought into the propaganda and smear campaign from the Right. You're ignoring reality, and buying into the most ridiculous lies and distortions any major political figure has had thrown at them in forever.

Look at Obama's campaign promises and look at what he's delivered. Every single major thing he's promised is SUBSTANTIALLY to the Right of what he promised. Explain how that happens w/ a president that only wants to force things and not work w/ the other side?

Do you want to know who's responsible for the division in this country? Ask the 34% of Republicans that believe Obama is a Muslim. Or the 45% that believe Obama wasn't born in the US.

You must learn to look beyond the mask pols like Obama wear. The mask said "unite", the brain said "divide" and soon will be saying "conquer" if we don't unelect him soon.

That makes no sense considering the context of the thread.
