The parents pay for the educational excursions (I'm guessing you've never been in an immersion language environment if you call it a "vacation" - shame!), not the taxpayer. Similarly, the Obamas paid for Malia's trip to Mexico.
Gee, I guess I really did live in a better school district than toyman, and I was being sarcastic.
Wasn't it the Liberals attacking the conservatives for having their kids out of school trampsing around the campaign trail taking their kids out of school?
This is NO DIfferent.
It's a school trip.
Also, it's spring break for many schools this week.
Do you overuse feigned outrage this much in real life?
I guess so! I was aware that taxpayers were expected to pay for public education. I wasn't aware that they were expected to pay for kids vacations to Europe. Maybe the problem isn't just teachers unions.
ermmm, that's not the way it works. The parents pay for the trip.
The Obama family members can travel to wherever they like. Sure there are great destinations within the USA but there is no reason for them only to travel within the USA. People should travel within their country (so that they know it) as well as outside their own country to get a broader view of the world.
And that cost is relatively static, whether the kids are in DC or out of the country.
