Only military officers can disobey an "unlawful' order, enlisted service members must obey any order from an officer, and are not allowed to decide on their own not to. They can disobey an order, but they will probably lose when taken to court.
Not true.
Even enlisted soldiers are duty bound to disobey an unlawful order.
Actually, no. The operative term is "unlawful." The distinction is not trivial.

Almost certainly. There is a reason Congress has been loathe to actually pursue enforcement of the War Powers Act. They enjoy the illusion of power in the face of its almost certain unconstitutionality.

i'm actually curious what is going on with lakin. i know he just got denied a license to practice medicine in the state that he's living because of his conviction but at the time of his incarceration there was a lot of talk of him doing a radio show or running for office yet we've herd almost nothing from him.
The birthers wanted to use him as their poster boy for the cause, but if you've ever heard the guy speak, he's about as engaging as a block of wood. He's also an idiot. And this is the fate that awaits any military member who defies the orders of their superiors or their CIC. And rightfully so.
So, what do they plan to do next? Mount a military coup to overthrow the duly and Constitutionally elected government of the United States in order to "save" the country?
All this hateful, intolerant, bigoted, prejudicial rhetoric directed at the President will soon reap a of harvest of horror for this country if people don't start learning the truth instead of reacting to lies.

I won't pretned to know anything about our military, know people serving past and the present.
However how does one political view, have a play into this. Doesn't matter your politiccal beliefs right, you join, knowing full right, what your responsibilities will be.
Because you don't agree with or like the President at the time, gives you any right to go against the chief. That makes the marine no better then the Chief, he does not like.
These Men who serve, are not only serving Obama you know.
I will never be an Obama fan, but that has nothing to do with these marines, following order, and beating to the tune of their own drum.
OH! News flash, we have never been a democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

Sigh, the government derives it's power from the people not the military. The military is subservient to the civil authorities.
