It was spun as "this is exactly why we need to change the tax code" which actually works in their favor if you think about it. Obama didn't have to take the deductions and if he didn't people would say he is an idiot for not taking them. Every politician takes it from the other side. Politicians have too much power and everybody wants it.

Yeah, but his beloved Buffet rule wouldn't have applied to him even if it was in effect--so it would have made no difference.

If this is really about "fairness," he could have not used every single deduction available to him and paid more in taxes, and a higher effective rate.

He also takes advantage of other tax "loopholes":

Obama Family Tax Shelter | Washington Free Beacon

Legal, yes. But is it "fair"?

Again, stupid argument. If Obama did write a check and send it in you'd criticize him for being "showy."

A leader plays by the rules of the tax code, prepares his returns honestly by whats allowed in the law, and works to change/fix what might be broken or unjust.

This is beyond funny because Obama has done nothing but complain that the tax rates favor the rich and implicated his own income in that. I'm sure he's NOT surprised that his tax rates are lower than some of his employees. This is a perfect example of how the wealthy have deductions and write-offs to make them pay less tax percentages.

Now, this really would be funny if Obama had gone around and harped about how FAIR the tax code is or how wealthy folks don't really get these breaks. But he doesn't say that, does he?

He clearly states that middle class are getting burned and he has also stated that his income is part of the class that needs to have taxes increased.

So, I'm really not sure why you think this is so outrageous.

So what? Every time he talks about it he is perfectly clear that he doesn't need the Bush tax breaks, and that he and everyone in his income category should be paying a higher rate.

Obama’s Aides Owe Some Money in Back Taxes
Jan 27, 2012 10:37am
A few dozen people who work for President Obama are having some trouble paying their taxes.
The IRS has released its Federal Employee and Retiree Delinquency Inventory, and it shows that 36 of Obama’s aides owe a total of $833,970 in back taxes.

41 Obama White House aides owe the IRS $831,000 in back taxes -- and they're not alone
September 10, 2010 | 2:54 am

The Post's T.W. Farnum did some research and found that out of the total sum, just 638 workers on Capitol Hill owe the IRS $9.3 million in back taxes. As in, overdue. The IRS gets stiffed by the legislative body that controls its budget. How Washington works.

I think it is odd that Obama donates 22% of his salary to Charities... why doesn't he donate it to government who he thinks should and do take the place of Charities.. apparently even he doesn't trust the government when it comes to social programs...
