Do you not know that most of Romney's was from capital gains and the rate is much lower than for income tax? Maybe you need to study up on the tax laws, a bit.
1) Book sales drop. They always do.
2) 22% of his income went to charitable causes. That ends up lowering your tax rate.
The Koch brothers give a very high amount to charity every year but they get no credit from lefties for so doing, although they probably do it for the same reason, to lower their income taxes. I am proud of people who give to charities even though most of it is to lower income taxes.
We all play by the current laws as they are. Same with the SuperPACs. He doesn't agree with them but as long as that is what is in play, that's how you play the game.
I don't agree with much of the tax code but that's what we have right now and I will work within the system as much as possible.
It's really such a stupid argument to say people who complain about the tax code should just send in more. You play by the rules and you work to change the system.

But it is about "fairness" and what is "fair." Obama is running on it. Cripes, the democrat senator from my home state of Missouri, Claire McCaskill, just went on a "fairness tour".
It's their issue, we should be entitled to explore what is "fair."

I'd say obama has employed a creative accountant to 'lose his income' in preparation to further his strategy of class warfare and specifically use it to attack MR.
With friends like tiny timmy G, the tax cheat and his stable of goldman alumnae, how is it possible for a well connected pol to lose that much money. That should be grounds for impeachment...incompetence.
This guy can't even reach the pedals of the car pulled out of the ditch but be assured that he and his friends will drive off the cliff.
As has been said on other threads that is because the Obamas' gave 22% of their income to charity.
On the other hand at least they have released a fair amount of there tax records unlike Romney, who ardently refuses to release his 2009 return. (Many speculate that this is because he paid 0 taxes that year)
I think he's waiting release those tax turns for when Obama releases his college transcripts.
