Listen to the 911 tape. Zimmerman WAS following Martin at a distance and observing him. We hear him doing so on the 911 tape when he's talking with dispatch, and hear the sounds of his pounding feet and labored breathing. Dispatch asks "are you following him", Zimmerman responds "yes", Dispatch responds "we don't need you to do that". At that suggestion, Zimmerman answers "OK", we hear the sounds of running stop. By all accounts, he did EXACTLY AS TOLD BY DISPATCH and stopped following and observing at that point. He reports "I lost him" and remained on the phone with dispatch for another 1 1/2 minutes. After the call he starts walking back to his rig, somewhere within the next 1 minute, Martin confronts him. It's tragic that Martin didn't simply walk into his house and instead chose to approach, confront and apparently assault Zimmerman.

Link below.

The encounter between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin was ultimately avoidable by Zimmerman, if Zimmerman had remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement or conversely if he had identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog(sic) in an effort to dispel each party’s concern,” lead investigator Chris Serino swore in a March 13 statement. “There is no indication that Trayvon Martin was involved in any criminal activity at the time of the encounter.”
His conclusion: probable cause for manslaughter.

My opinion in this hasn't changed.

I agree with that, just as long as it is not called self-defense. I heard on NPR that even though Zimmerman is charged with 2nd degree murder, the jury can find him not guilty of that while also finding him guilty of manslaughter.

At this point Zimmerman should sue the New Black Panthers, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton for slander.
Why? they are given the same information that we all are. If the police had done their job correctly, the DA had not intervene, zimmerman had listened to the dispatcher and not followed Trayvon in the first place none of this would have of happened in the first place.

FYI Rev Jackson and Sharpton came at the request of the Martin family to bring light on this obviously racist event. The NBP did not slander zimmerman they put a bounty out on him.

Folks claimed he stole the candy? I never heard that one nor have I ever mentioned it. It's irrelevent.

One thing the video showed is Trayvon was quite tall and more than capable of fighting MMA style as one witness described the fight. Once he got his long arms swinging Zimmerman probably never had a chance.

CNN's Anderson Cooper had on a ditzy woman who made the comment that Zimmerman shooting Trayvon at point blank range seemed to indicate he made no effort to get away from his alleged attacker. ??? had he shot at more than a few feet they would have no doubt( and justifiably) said he wasn't in any dnager from Trayvon when he shot him. Cooper was actually running a pretty good and intellignent discussion but his guests were definitely not the sharpest commentators they could have found. It didn't sink to an MSNBC level of irrelevance but he would have been better off just grabbing a few people off the street for their opinions.

Case closed.

Zimmerman guilty.
Bull!
Whoever initiated the FIRST PHYSICAL CONTACT is the guilty party. Following someone is not illegal. Period. The only way this breaks the law is if it is repeated following which then can be labeled stalking.
Asking someone what they are doing is not illegal.
Throwing a punch because you dont like being followed is illegal....its called battery and if this is how Martin initiated the "confrontation" , then there is room for a Zimmerman defense. IF, however, Zimmerman was the first to initiate physical confrontation...then he should be convicted. The judge, jury and the evidence will decide this case not the "legal savants" on this forum.

Here is the legal clause in Florida for stalking: Any person who willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly follows or harasses another person commits the offense of stalking, a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

Notice the term "and repeatedly"

Sounds like he had biased commentators. CNN needs to tighten up their ratings are going in the crapper.

I don't see the NFL running back ju-jitsu master others claim to be seeing. More like a tall, gangling teenager. No particular cause for suspicion.
