How did he disrespect them? Nothing he stated is not true, I knw this for a fact because, unlike many here, I was a Grunt and if you think it is only a matter of picking up a rifle and shooting you do not know what you are taling about. As I said earlier, if they can do the job with any special help then good for them, but combat is an ugly business and there is no room for weak links because they can, and do, result in others being harmed or killed, that also applies to men.

I'm fully aware of that, my DH was a SEAL instructor.

But, where does it say that things will never change? Allowing women in combat will ultimately open the door to allowing them in special forces as well.

My daughter is fully aware of the prejudice against women in the military, she's also fully aware that one day, those walls will come crashing down.

Obviously being a "crusty pompous old soldiergrunt" doesn't indicate education in the history of what female soldiers have done, ARE doing and will do.

Women have BEEN in combat and ARE in combat....and hold up their end.....ignorance of that fact and the inability to accept that is total disrespect of what our female troops have done .

Soldiers fight for FREEDOM, don't they?
And yet SOME want to curtail 50% of American's freedom to fight for their country

Excuse me? WTF are you talking about.

If I had to take a **** while out on maneuvers many times the only place was behind the truck squatting on the ground in full view of those who cared to watch.

Is changing a tampon that controversial? If so then it doesn't belong on the front line.

These are combat conditions we are talking about sweetie not making a cake in an easy bake oven.

BTW I am one of the most supportive SOB's you will ever run across when it comes to women being allowed on the front lines if they so choose and can make the cut.

Take your anti American crap and shove it, you know where.

No decision should ever be based upon the gender of the candidate, EVER. It is always a matter of competency for the task at hand.

So that's YOUR opinion of what women are? Children who bake cakes in toy ovens?

How totally disrespectful and ignorant.

Your total ignorance of what women, and not just military women, but women in general have done is appalling.

They changed their bloody rags and washed them while crossing the wide open prairie to settle this country

.....and I have NO doubt that your favorite subject, tampon changing, will stop women from wanting to serve their country, TOO!

Your not worth the effort anymore. After reading your other irrational responses.

What in the F is "disrespectful" about expecting women to meet the same standards as men to do the same job? What would be disrespectful, as well as cost lives, is to reduce PT standards to allow more women to make the cut. That is just stupid. The military is about protecting this country, not a place to experiment with social engineering.

There are strong capable women that could do just fine with these standards. And there will be some incapable of meeting them, the same as some men. Neither should be in the military, where they can cost someone their life.

Are you referring to me or them? I can assure you that both off us know what female soldiers have done and respect them for their service.

True and I and many others have acknowledged that fact. BUT, there is a major difference between people getting caught in an ambush and fighting and being a combat soldier that goes out and takes the fight to the enemy. Combat MOS's are trained to perform actual combat duties and they are in far better shape both physically and mentally to deal with regular combat duties than those working in other jobs, they are only about 10% of all Army soldiers. So simply saying that they have and do fight on occasion does not mean that all of them could stand up to the physical and mental strain it takes to be a soldier that is trained for combat as a job. I am sure that women will eventually get ther chance to prove they have what it takes, I back their efforts, but I doubt many will actually be able to do the job as well as a man, but we shall see. I will finish with a simple, but true, saying,
"Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it."
