I can't believe ALL of those financial and marketing specialists who have been reporting on this got it so wrong.
Maybe YOU should be reporting for the financial reports.
Image is important, and a fumbeled advertizing campaign can be a killer. I wonder what the guy was going to do next? Put up an ad with DeGeneres and her girlfriend puffing on a big fat marijuana joint? I am sure some people would find that cool, but most of us would be turned off.
As I said in the post you quoted, your grasp of retail and marketing is simply astounding.
It is politically neutral in showing depictions of ALL types of families. The fathers day ad had single fathers, mixed sex couples, a father in a wheelchair, fathers of different nationalities, and a same sex couple.
That is being neutral.
Right
You know better. Showing gay "families" in ads is making a political statement. I hope that JC Penny share holders are happy with the company's campaign.
Retailers should leave politics to politicians and focus on retail. Picking a fight with a large componant of the population is idiocy and marketing suicide.
Other retailers, if they really want to fail, should embrace the gay agenda as well. I wonder if anyone with half a brain thinks that another retailer will try the same strategy?
