I did a youtube search on Black Single Mothers. I can find a myriad of videos expounding on this subject, by both Black women and Black men. I'm finding more Black men talking about it though. Alot of people are talking about it, just not in the political arena.

So as a married black woman, what happens to you when you go among a group of other black women and make that assertion?

I know what happens to me as a married black man when I have done it...even among married black women.

The culture definitely needs to change, and the government won't be much help. I think one problem is that anyone who criticizes single mothers or blacks runs the risk of being called insensitive or racist, even if they're trying to help. The mainstream doesn't understand nuanced points. They just see criticism.

What needs to happen is the black community needs to admit that there's a problem and start making it socially unacceptable to be a single mother. The family-oriented African-Americans need to stand up to the ones who are glorifying this lifestyle and taking the responsibility off of the mothers for their choice in men, the fathers for their abandonment, and both for their irresponsibility. That goes for all people, but especially the black community with how rampant it is. I really hope it happens because it will solve a huge amount of problems in our society.

Wrong....tons of blacks and minorities aren't in jail for smoking pot, they're in jail for selling pot.
There's difference between being a drug dealer and getting baked once in a while.

The issue you are putting on black women has become an issue on various levels for all women of all races to some lesser degree.

Would be better to pick potential future mates a lot more wisely to begin with.

In the United States WHAT IS THE PRICE for bad choices? Support of the fractured family at the expense of hard working taxpayers.
We need temporary support and not such substantial support that a mother can make it without working.

Plus if moms want to for a time collect social services and monies regarding their children they should be forced to always declare who the father is so the state can chase back support from the male or female if it is a single male.

Our welfare culture does IMO make a lot of girls seek to be supported through poverty programs with a baby rather than doing what most others do in preparing and then going out to work for their life.

If you looked at people that are incarcerated in the US for violent crimes, a vast majority are black. Also, a vast, vast majority are from single mothers. A vast majority of those single moms also have multiple children from multiple men.

Do you see a problem or a pattern? I do.

Because with a rate that high, someone in their family or them at one time is probably one.

Where and when did this begin?
Now the monitors here might find looking at how this happened to be "Off Topic" but the SOURCE is the reason we have this article here, and is directly related to all these single mother homes eventually hitting all races.

Answer to how this started:
President Johnson and the Great Society welfare programs.
Did you know before Johnson after slavery and through the KKK times that most blacks were in married families and were mostly Republicans?

President Johnson saw the writing on the wall because the Republicans were pushing Civil Rights several times and the Democrats voted it down. So Johnson basically gave them thirty pieces of silver to vote Democrat and he did it by one of the first Government Santa Clause programs ever WELFARE.

In the last few years there was a release of actual Oval Office conversations regarding welfare and blacks where Johnson says in recordings (and you can hear it for yourself) about giving the N words welfare so they would vote Democrat the next 200 years.

A case could be made that these levels of single motherhood and the destruction of the black two parent home goes back directly to Johnson's programs and welfare.

The next bigger question, so now what?

The problem is sooo complicated. Most black women that are in that position grow bitter towards men. Rejection by suitable mates in our society can leave long lasting scars that are passed on from mother to daughter and granddaughter . its traumatic. Marriage is a civil contract with many many many perks financially. The sad fact is that the majority of law abiding , educated or with a vocation single males place black women on the bottom of the list to marry. There are plenty of complex reasons for this. The biggest reason I feel is the competition from suitable females ofnother races. Their families prepare them for marriage from the cradle.... Blck women coming from broken families are I'll prepared to compete for eligible suitors....

In laymen's terms..... Why as a man would I marry a women who comes from a fractured family with no dowery.? Do I want to deal with my drug dealer brother in-law? What about my nieces and nephews that are fatherless ? These are the perceptions of black women. I can bet you that middle class black women from 2 parent homes have no trouble landing a suitable husband and father to their children...... We must teach our children how to get ahead in life and how OUR society works...
