So names like Lucretia or Letitia (european name a lot of white women have) is much more acceptable than Tanisha (common African American name)? They both have that eesha sound to it.
Pleas don't take anything the op says seriously. She's the same person who said in the relationship forum she wants to bleach her skin to be more "light skin" to get a man.
Actually, she didn't even do that. According to her website, Nikki is the middle name she was given at birth, and by which she has been called all her life.

I have an ethnic name with the -eesha sound to it and I have been wildly successful.
I wonder if it's because my last name reveals my asian ethnicity.
Asian names aren't common white people names and asians do VERY well in this country.
This thread reminds me of this time I spent in Arizona.
We had a med student from England working with us. His name was Byron.
He asked one of the other residents one day why everyone did a double take when he said his name was Byron.
The resident said, "Because you're probably the first white Byron they've ever met." LOL!!!!!!!
Uh; many people who came to the US changed out their names to sound more "American" back in the day. Nikki Haley kept her name "Nikki" and took her hubby's name, Haley; many women did just that. Sheesh!

I still don't know why people feel justified in judging people based on their names. Don't you see how stupid that is? So what if a girl's name is Shaniqua. Does is make you feel better to stereotype them? I think what makes me sick about this thread is that some people in here have the argument "Well don't name you kids 'ghetto' names if you want them to be successful in life." You do know that when you say that you are basically justifying and approving unjustified discrimination.
I hope it will work for you. Which step are you on?
