What "agenda?" We're not the ones embracing Catholic officials when they shield pedophiles and then complain they have to fund women's health measures. You Reps are. Both Bushes were also very cozy with sexist Saudis. The Reps have done almost nothing to make sure we can avoid giving Muslims oil money.
It's not part of the convention, and it's not authorized by the DNC.
It's one event from a collection events submitted to the DNCC - a group of Charlotte politicians and business men who formed a comittee to attract the DNC to Charlotte - by the public. The DNCC is trying to run a successful and profitable convention for the city of Charlotte, so they're advertising these events surrounding the DNC on behalf of the city.
Anybody could submit an event, and the DNCC published information about events that are either over Labor Day Weekend or during the Convention, are well planned, are not content inappropriate, and provide either educational or cultural content. Other non DNC events the DNCC is promoting include:
•A Christian Gospel Brunch
•A College Football Tailgate party
•A Trip to the NASCAR Hall of Fame
•A music festival (CarolinaFest)
•A Film Festival
•Free Yoga classes in the park
•Charlotte Labor Day Festival (Matthews Alive!)
•A Happy Hour with the Mayor for members of the Young Republicans and Young Democrats
•The Grand Opening (renovated) of a Science Museum
•An Art Exhibit of Madeleine Albright's Jewelery where she'll be giving a speech entitled "Against the Grain: Wood in Contemporary Art, Craft, and Design"

This is an American Muslim group.
Despite my general distaste for any religion that requires women to cover up, you have no proof that this group advocates killing homosexuals, oppressing women, female circumcision, or beheading people.
In FACT, it is very arguable that Muslims would actually feel more at home amongst Republicans on social issues... since oppression of homos, women and co-mingling of religion and state is something that Christians and Muslims can agree on.
Perhaps the biggest error, then, is this Muslim group choosing to have its event in Charlotte, rather than Tampa.
It is consistent, as least. Liberals oppose Christianity, as it has been identified as one of the three impediments to the spread of socialism/communism to west- the other two being the family and the middle class. Therefore liberal policy will be directed to remove these impediments- the church, the family, and the middle class.
As a foil to Christianity, liberalism has embraced thier awkward ally, Islam, in spite of the tenets of Islam which oppose basic human rights and personal freedoms. Liberals always contend that they are not bedfellows with Islam, yet always appear in bed with Islam. Actions speak louder than words.
I sometimes wonder about these world views, and how they come about. I don't think someone who is for a progressive/liberal view is necessarily any more against Christianity than any other religion. I am libertarian at heart, at least 90%. Yet to me that means I'm socially liberal, and do not want the governments interference.
It isn't Christianity that I oppose (I want to believe in it after all, and grew up Catholic). It is that someone who follows a 2000 year old book to the "T" without updating their world view is likely to have an out-dated world view that isn't inline with standard reforms (women rights, anti-slavery, anti-tattoo, same sex marriage, etc).
Christianity is just the most vocal here in the United States, hence the attention. . .but conservative Islam, Judaism would get an equal bad rapt.
I voted Republican since I was 18, but I don't know if I can any longer. This hijacked craziness, like this thread, seems to be the core of the party. I have no belief in them being deficit reduces (they didn't), lowering spending (they didn't), and consistent supporters of life (death penalty). Then you take out of context events like a pre-Rally held in conjunction with the democratic convention. . .and you link that to a blessing at the ACTUAL meeting. . .and try to pretend there is some correlation.
You waste my time, and drive people like me further away. It just seems that the Democrats are turning in my view to the lesser of two evils. . .and at least they aren't putting forward crazy conspiracies like the above. I don't plan on joining a tin-hat crowd.

No. I hate Islam. Loathe it. Despise it. I'd rather kill myself that live in Saudi Arabia or under the Taliban. But I feel the same way about the Catholic extremist on your veep ticket who describes rape as just another means of conception and the moron running for senate who thinks women are lying when they say they get pregnant after they've been raped. I don't want to live in a country governed by pedophile shielding, women hating, sexist, homophobic old men either.

He can read. He can also distinguish and know what the difference between "authorized," and "sponsored" is.... even if you cannot.
If you had a content approved group that wanted to have an event (among the many others) at the DNC, YOU TOO could have your event "approved" by the DNC... assuming the content and message presented was not going to go against the President or the DNC platform.
