For what it's worth, I respect David Frum as a thoughtful and intelligent conservative pundit. I don't know if intellectual is the word I would use, though. I'm trying to think of the others now.

ETA: see Fiddlehead's post.

Exactly. I mean, as a professor, what satisfaction would failing them give you? Really. At most you'd have to see them again the next semester. That's why the conservative argument that profs just love to stick it to right wing college students is BS.

They do all the time. However, libs never listen to them. Further, EVERY LIB is convinced that they are intellectually superior to any conservative, in spite of evidence to the contrary, simply by pulling the "D" lever.

I always laugh when democrats say they are the intelligent party;becasue then they couold just create all the jobs they want. Tax themsleves or give the money from their deep earnings from that intelligence. I think it is like the fat girl looking the mirror and saying doesn't this dress make me look slim.

And then they grow up and become conservatives, at least they do if they ever actually leave the campus and get a real private sector job, pay taxes and such.

Better-educated conservatives began abandining the "absolutist" stance over forty years ago; below is a link to one of the works-in-process which sprang from that fount:

International Society for Individual Liberty: Libertarian Activism Worldwide

If the flag on the riight starts you frothing about "Teabaggers", you need to open your mind and do a bit more research.
