You obviously do not realize that the teachers cannot strike, unless there is pay involved. It would be illegal to do so per the State Law.

Looks like the strike continues. How much longer until Obama swoops in for a "Milk & Cookie Summit" and ends the strike making him look like a hero?

News from The Associated Press Chicago teachers union to continue strike

Quote:
Union president Karen Lewis said teachers want the opportunity to continue to discuss the offer that is on the table.

"Our members are not happy," Lewis said. "They want to know if there is anything more they can get."

She added: "They feel rushed."
I'm sure that statement is going to go over real well with the taxpaying public.

And save your lies about "caring for the kids" for people that might believe them.

I think they rejected it mostly because (I heard) there was a clause that there would be performance reviews. These teachers are what's wrong with public sector unions. Living high on the hog, with no accountability.

My daughter became a kindergarten teacher because she loves kids and she is a natural at it. And that is the case with all teachers I know. Lord knows they don't do it for the pay. The pay is horrible for what is expected of her. She has special needs kids because they are main streamed now. So with a class of 30 kids or more, she has to spend extra time with these kids without any help. Most of her class doesn't even speak English but yet she is expected to make sure they pass the standardized tests or else it looks like she is a failure.
Trust me she doesn't live high on the hog since she pays for everything in her classroom. Parents don't even volunteer or even show up for conferences. How she and other teachers should be held accountable when the parents don't seem to give a darn about their kids is beyond me.
So please tell me what you would like these teachers to do without the necessary help and resources.
