Well - we don't have the money, nor the man power, nor the moral authority to simply go in and bomb every single nation we sort of don't agree with. You see, doing so would essentially make us something along the lines of Nazi Germany. I have a hard time imagining that any American would want that.

Perhaps you misunderstood my post in light of the comment I was responding to? The poster argued that we shouldn't try to appease conflicts. The other alternative is to simply go in and bomb any place that gives us trouble.
Bombing whoever pisses us off in some way is certainly not under the heading of "defending ourselves," now is it? If we did this, we WOULD BE like Nazi Germany.
It's also no secret that we don't have the money to bomb everybody who pisses us of.
