Perhaps Hamas, the chosen representative of the Palestinian people, should have considered this eventuality before firing rockets?
Yes, Israeli response is harsh and death of innocents anywhere is a tragedy. However, once a war has been instigated, expecting a proportional response is unrealistic.

Not sure what reality you are living in, however:

Slow starvation? Support of the American government? Palestine gets $500 million / year from the US. What do we get in return exactly? Beyond that, Palestinian population has exploded despite the conflict with Israel. Israel HAD all of Gaza and returned it to the Palestinians. Hamas then violently seized Gaza and has been attacking Israel from there ever since.

israel is multiple times the size it originally was in 1948 ( let alone 1967 ) , it has had a policy of stealing land for decades , russia takes a small chunk of ukraine and their is international uproar

israel controls gazza like a prison , they man all entry and exit from gazza , to say the place has full independance is a fallacy

as for what america gets in return for its israel pallestine policy , 9 -11 is one example

Rockets do very little damage?
Hmmmm try living in conditions where rockets may fall on you without notice. Having been in war and under fire I can attest that Rockets do very little damage provides little comfort to those who endure it. Evidence that todays journalists have the IQ of an amoeba.
I am not great supporter of Israel's heavy handed approach, but if it were my town under fire I would be demanding that Obama do something about it. The Hamas use human shields. Most of whom were given no choice in the matter. As long as we keep butting in there will be no end to this nonsense. Let the parties involved slug it out.

How did they miss them? Because on paper they are required to inspect the schools a few times a year and they didn't. Probably haven't for years. What else did they miss, that hit the news, over the past decade? A missile launcher and a Headmaster who was a Islamic Jihad commander and a bomb maker.

Why are they inspecting since the beginning of this year? Because its donors have realized the money being used was being lets say incorrectly. So since the UNRWA funding has been drastically cut they fired or reduced the pay of all their Palestinian employees and either replaced them with themselves or closed the schools. The UNRWA has cut all projects to the bone within the territories to lack of funding.

Add to this that Israel wants no part of the UNRWA due to the proven times they do not act impartial with their programs. Nearly every program used by the UN has had a negative impact on Israel.

Friday

Ever since the Arab Spring show real atrocities in other countries compared to created (or perceived) atrocities to Palestinians their funding has dried up and is proven by themselves on their own website no longer reporting income past 2012. Americans have the reality and have stopped writing checks to them.

Home - UNRWA USA

Even if we look at the UNHCR, they've cut funding so much that the Palestinians within Israels borders get the least amount of funding compared to the ones outside of it.

UNHCR - UNHCR Global Report 2013 - Middle East subregional overview

And even UNESCO is pulling out (and their office is in the West Bank). Their last full assessment was in 2010.

One can look up nearly any organization (even the most advent anti-Israel like the ISM) and they all Talk up the Palestinians, but ever since the Arab Spring the financial backing have dried up.

That money went directly into the pockets of high ranking officials. There is actually no proof that it got used for anything related to the citizens of the territories. Keep in mind that all the high ranking members of Hamas have already moved to Qatar. Now I'm just waiting to see the ones from Fatah move out (the families owns lavish properties in Gaza, Jordan, Qatar, Ramallah, Tunisia, and the UAE).

This is actually a false statement as Egypt has a border with Gaza which is under its control (and not under Israeli control).
