It’s not politically correct to have any pleasant memories of the good times from the ‘50’s because that era is so different and un-PC from the way things are now. The entire era back then must be demonized and vilified and anything decent or wholesome from the ‘50’s is to be ridiculed and defiled.
Exactly. It is bashed because the country was more conservative (and moral) than it is today.
We agree on something. Minorities don't look fondly on the 50s.
I react as I do when I see a post about the 50s because the older I get, and the more I know, the more cynical and less patient I am. All I can think about it what was done to people of my ethnicity during that time.
But it wasn't exclusive to the '50s. What about the '40s, '30s, '20s, etc?
And remember, it was in the '50s in which racist problems started being addressed.
I never saw the "a village is missing its idiot" stickers.
now you have.

There is a difference between saying "a village is missing its idiot" and "a village in Kenya is missing its idiot". Big difference. The latter one is making an assumption about President Obama being from Kenya even though he was born on U.S. soil.
Calling the President an idiot is one thing. Making a shot at his ancestry or making fallacious comments about his birth is another matter. Why else would a bumper sticker claim he was from Kenya even though he was born in the USA?
because they're as stupidly partisan as the bush-haters were, and want to take any potshot possible at the opposition, no matter how trivial or circumspect the evidence is?
i realize that assuming 'racism' is the easier and most desirable answer to liberals, but i think you should at least consider the possibility that this may not be the case.
But we are talking about the 1950s. You really need to ask yourself this and think about it. Why aren't there any Black people who want the 1950s back? Last time I checked, alot of Black people are not wishing for that era back.

Okay, now I see the stickers. I've never seen them until now. Then again, I live in Georgia.
And as for racism, the "monkey" comment is racist. Why? Monkey is a racial slur used against Blacks. Why else would someone come up with the phrase "kick the monkey out of the White House and send him back to Africa"? It's of a racial nature.

It wasn't exclusive to the 50s, but this thread is about the 50s. The Civil Rights movement came about because Blacks were being treated poorly. There were still many racist laws on the books. Things only started getting better, for real, in the mid to late 1960s into 1970.

i din't see the 'monkey' comment you refer to, but you can't in all honesty claim you didnt see all the thousand references to bush as a chimp or monkey. were those references 'racist'? if i had a dollar for every 'chimpy mcbush.hitler post i saw between 2001 and 2009, i could retire right now.
and before you claim that only blacks have be thusly denigrated, observe:
jeezus. it was a joke. the reference to a 70s era TV buffoon should have made that more than obvious.
lighten up a little.
