Rick Perry told a Boy Scouts of America convention that he hopes the organization will continue to ban membership of gay scouts and scout masters. Perry says he hopes the BSA will uphold its "traditional values", and that scouting is "no place to learn about sexuality"

I hate to keep whacking you good people of Texas over the head with an inflatable mallet... But you elected this guy governor HOW MANY TIMES???
You don't compromise your principles. But since lefties have none, I understand your feelings.
On another note, the Boy Scouts will become fractured.....many church sponsored troops will break away from the centralized leadership and form their own group.
Another shining example of conservatives not being bigots who support discrimination against some group of Americans.
Thank god, Rick Perry supports the right of the boy scouts to discriminate against homosexuals even though the boy scouts no longer want to discriminate, because you know boy scouts discriminating against homosexuals is freedom for Rick Perry.

What about having special boy scout troops for gay boys with gay scout leaders? How do you feel about that?
Or... how would you feel about families being able to pick and choose which boy scout troops to join based on the known profiles of the scout leaders and the other boy scouts? Would it be okay for families to choose not to join a particular troop if they know that the leader is gay or that some of the boys are gay?
In my family, my nieces had some issues in high school with girl bullies who were lesbians. And because of their experience, I would be hesitant to want any girls in my family to be part of a girl scout troop with declared lesbian girls in it. Of course, I realize that there are straight girl bullies also. And growing up is learning how to deal with bullies, but sexual bullies are extra scary and creepy to deal with. And no child should have to deal with sexual harassment.
Also, very sadly as time goes on, children are learning about sex at a younger age all of the time. So really, why must we expose children to gays and lesbians so soon? It's not that being a LGBT is wrong, but more that scouting should be an asexual experience and activity. The scouting programs have never been burdened with introducing the children into adulthood and sex. Scout leaders were never meant to be sexual adult role models for the kids in their troops. That's the job for their parents.
I may not agree with Perry's view, but I give him credit for standing up for what he believes in, knowing he is going to get slammed big time. This has always been his way of doing things, it is part of what hurt him in the primaries. He said what he believed, not what others wanted him to say...

You do realize being gay has nothing to do with sex at that age right? Being gay involves a lot more than behavior. Behavior is irrelevant, because a gay virgin or celibate gay is still gay. But the struggles and challenges gays face by being different and hated by society, do affect their life.

Probably should keep them away from church, school, workplace or other social functions if the concern is that every other person is a potential bully.
