I agree completely with this statement. My bf was an eagle scout and I was a girl scout. We both work with and have gay friends. And we both are of the opinion that sex does not belong in the scouting groups. And by that, we think that there can be gay leaders and gay kids in the boy scouts, but that they need to keep their sexual orientations out of it completely. Also, there should be no straight sex talk either. Sure, one can't monitor what kids talk about amongst themselves, but in terms of the scouting agenda, there should be no sex talk or activity of any kind going on during scouting activities. The scout program was not designed to help with a child's sexual orientation or emergence into adulthood, it is about handling the outdoors and getting exercise and fresh air while doing it.
Otherwise, if there are those who feel that young teens of the LGBT persuasion need guidance and support, then let there be specialized outings led by gay and lesbian scout leaders. But again, I do believe that those groups have to be more about scouting activities and with little or no emphasis on anything sexual. It's a fine line to tread. And NO, I don't think that gay men are pedophiles.
And btw, I'd much rather have learned boy scouting skills than what was offered in the girl scout program.
umm, yes many gay men are pedophiles. Your post fails to consider (or you just failed to mention) that MANY boy scouts will quit or never join if it turns out to be an openly gay group. So, if gays want a gay friendly group that can further their gay lifestyle then thats what scouts will be in 2020. Ironically, most gay boys and gay men won't want to join if straight people aren't involved. This is NOT about equal rights.
This is about gays wanting their lifestyle accepted even though it is inherently different. It is a catch-22. Gays are different, and they proudly display that difference (i.e. gay pride parades, etc.) BUT.. they want the rest of us to accept them as "normal". You can't have it both ways.
How many, like maybe one percent? Do you suppose that is higher or lower than in the general population?

Do you know alot of gay pedophiles? I know of two male pedophiles in my lifetime. 1 was an old man with granchildren. The second was a single guy with a girlfriend. Guess who got molested.
I have no idea if they were gay, straight, bi or any other designation you want to assign...
Do you think, all gay males, think with one mind...monolithically? Name one group of humans that all think alike.
What is the "gay" lifestyle?...since you're so in-tuned. What is displaying mean? How can you tell they are pridefull? Does that come across to you as they are displaying?

Sorry 3. The third was just arrested of having a relationship with a 14 y.o. boy and is a woman...mother of 5. I guess I overlooked cus the boy was 14.
The old man was convicted of molesting both boys and girls.

So you favor something like Don't Ask, Don't Tell? That would still be more liberal than their current policy.
Rick Perry told a Boy Scouts of America convention that he hopes the organization will continue to ban membership of gay scouts and scout masters. Perry says he hopes the BSA will uphold its "traditional values", and that scouting is "no place to learn about sexuality"
