There is no legal reason against abortion either. It is still murder. There are moral reasons against gay marriage.

Not the old "Some ancient societies tried same-sex marriage, and they're all gone!" sophistry...

Those societies are all gone because all ancient societies are gone. Societies, states... eventually they all disappear, or morph into something different. You could make the same claim about democracy, or civil rights in general, or just about anything. But you won't, because everyone knows that is complete nonsense, and because all you're doing is looking for something -- anything -- to prop up your ridiculous and utterly baseless 'someday same-sex marriage will disappear' fantasy. It's not going to disappear anymore than universal suffrage, or interracial marriage or the like.

It's always the same with regressives -- they just click their ruby heels together and insist that things will go back what they want at some nebulous time they call 'eventually'.

They never learn.

Vaya con dios, Roy.

American Christian conservatives are very much aligned with the conservative Muslims in terms of their social views, and backwards ways of looking at the world.

I really do think you guys should learn to live happily together. Two sides of the same coin.

But do the world a favor and keep to yourselves once you get there.

The moral reason finds its source in holy books.

Holy books as a source of morality are for idiots who have an undeveloped sense of right and wrong and need the threat of divine retribution to keep them from doing things that hurt others.

A truly developed sense of morality is internal, NOT external. Even religious people can understand that certain things are wrong regardless of whether its included in "the Book" or not... and that sometimes things in "the Book" are just plain outdated.

That day, they decided that Sneetches are Sneetches,
and no kind of Sneetch is the BEST on the beaches.
That day, all the Sneetches forgot about stars,
and whether they had one or not upon thars.

You know, dredging up wholly unrelated and irrelevant lines from a book doesn't actually help whatever argument you're failing at making.

Exactly. The idea that one's morality should come from a book written by other men is laughable, especially a morally abhorrent book like the bible.

Since the days of Christ people have believed the "end times" were near.

In fact, the early Christians believed that Jesus would come back within their lifetimes.

In many ways I wish Jesus WOULD come back, to tell you all how much you've bastardized his message for your own purposes and have done more to drive people AWAY from religion through your bigotry and religious nutjobbery than TO the religion as you're supposed to.

Hope you're proud of what an awful job you're doing representing your religion.

I do what I can. If a soul is deaf to God's word there is little that can be done. Some will not be saved.
