Britain or France -- both are close to passing same-sex marriage bills.

In the United States, it would take a Supreme Court ruling at this point, and I doubt the USSC will do that this year. However, states continue to move forward. Illinois and Rhode Island look like they'll enact same-sex marriage this spring, with Hawai'i and Delaware and Minnesota and New Jersey all having decent chances at some point this year. Not to mention California, when the Prop 8 appeals are finally exhausted this summer.

It will be a long, pointless fight. American conservatives are far more content to align themselves culturally with the backwards civilizations of the 3rd world.

They delay the inevitable, and they don't care how many people and families they hurt in the process.

It's going to be fun watching the evangelical's collective head explode when SSM finally becomes legal.

I agree about the inevitability. Every year, support ticks up 1-2% nationally. Some states are ahead of others, but the trend is long and very clear.

Indiana is considering putting an amendment to ban same-sex marriage on the 2014 ballot. It is one of the few states where Republicans haven't already used that GOTV technique. It will be interesting to see if they go through with it, or if the lesson of Minnesota makes them think twice about whether or not that ship has sailed.

Oh well. Britain was already lost.Europe fortunately is fighting back,at least the majority is. Nationalist parties are being elected to power in numerous countries or are gaining power in the polls.

The "new normal"?

Gay marriage will never be normal. That would be declaring it the same as heterosexual marriage when it isn't.

Don't you find it funny that with all the advancements the gay agenda makes, society still keeps it on the fringe?

If by "majority of Europe" you exclude the UK, Spain, Portugal, France, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands.... even Germany has nationally recognized "civil unions" which is the first step towards full marriage equality.

Even nationalists don't get anywhere attacking their own people. They have to save their bitterness towards foreigners.

It really doesn't. Maybe if you're a decrepit evangelical and only hang out with other decrepit evangelicals. Among most people in my generation it's just not a big deal. Even some of my very religious friends support gay marriage.

That leaves quite a few nations in Europe just off top of my head,Greece,Switzerland,Austria,Hungary all have powerful or gaining power nationalist parties...even in the Netherlands they are gaining power and hopefully can overturn this disgusting policy.
