Sounds like the principal got caught playing BS games and had to "clarify" to save their job. Don't worry as evidence in this thread the liberals will jump to his defense. Now if it were the other way around they would be outside his home calling him a KKK member declaring he be shot for discrimination.
Who knows if the principal even saw this parent group's tutoring flier before it was sent out. Sure, he's ultimately responsible, and I find his reaction to the misunderstanding absolutely on target.
This is a non-issue that reactionary, racist right-wingers like the OP are tying to use to stoke racial discord.
More backwards liberal logic- we must embrace racism against whites in order to right past wrongs against 'people of color'.
This looks like a good thread to dump this informative link again-
Rich, Black, Flunking Cal Professor John Ogbu thinks he knows why rich black kids are failing in school. Nobody wants to hear it.
Ogbu concluded that the average black student in Shaker Heights put little effort into schoolwork and was part of a peer culture that looked down on academic success as "acting white." Although he noted that other factors also play a role, and doesn't deny that there may be antiblack sentiment in the district, he concluded that discrimination alone could not explain the gap.
"The black parents feel it is their role to move to Shaker Heights, pay the higher taxes so their kids could graduate from Shaker, and that's where their role stops," Ogbu says during an interview at his home in the Oakland hills. "They believe the school system should take care of the rest. They didn't supervise their children that much. They didn't make sure their children did their homework. That's not how other ethnic groups think."
In short- you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Academic achievement starts at home with the kid's parents taking an active interest and role in their development well before kindergarten, not by banning white children from classes. How could that even remotely be considered progressive?
I have 6 or 7 friends who teach in that district. Maybe I'll ask and see if they know Mr. Pearson.
Oh, and Mr. Pearson is ex-military ('93 Air Force Academy graduate). As a soldier yourself, maybe you should take him at his word that this was just a stupid misunderstanding??
His military service is irrelevant in this situation. But I can tell you personally and honestly that a organized campaign to have him fired is underway since the report was aired earlier. The District Superintendent is being bombarded by hundreds of complaints through emails since this was brought to light. The scathing early report that Pearson wasn't backing down or taking calls is what got this ball rolling to get him fired.
Also complaints are going here as well:

Minority parents who realize that the minority students in their school are doing worse than white students offering after-school tutoring for underachieving, primarily minority students (although white students are welcome) is racism against whites?
Can you believe such a thing could ever happen to these white kids wanting after school tutoring? This guy is basically wanting to 'segregate' the white students. What do any of you think of this?

Yeah the principal didn't have any idea who was tutoring the children after school. That is your answer? I guess if a pedophile group was found tutoring children you would defend the principal too? Then you go full circle to call the OP the racist for posting the story? LOL

No, that's not my answer. What I'm suggesting is that he didn't necessarily read the PASS tutoring flyer before it was sent out.
No Pat did not break this news. Pat linked to the CBS4 Denver news station about this story that's gone viral.
Gone viral? It's hardly even getting any play here in Denver (CBS was the only TV station to do a story, and the Denver Post had a 4 sentence, "back-page" online story on it). It was a simple misunderstanding that was immediately addressed.
Well he should have. Now his arse is in a sling because he allowed a group who only wanted to tutor certain students be at the school. Your probably right it's maybe blown out of proportion but who knows anymore. Some folks who get in these positions have some pretty messed up ideas and philosophies.
