Americans are now in the position where they have NO RIGHTS at all. When the government has the power to "disappear" you and hold you without charges or trial then any other rights you might think you have become moote points.
Well, I am 57 years old, and I can't think much in the way of 'rights' that have been denied me over the decades.
Most of the more irritating government rules have invariably been at the local level (zoning laws, school board actions, etc).
As for the Bill of Rights: I still enjoy freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of press, I own 'arms', I may peaceably assemble, and soldier's still have not been quartered in my house.
Indeed, as a youth of 16 I was very worried about being 'drafted' to go to Vietnam. While I had no qualms about fighting 'for my country', I was not persuaded that it was right that I was subject to being drafted and sent to fight North Vietnam. However, in 1973, when I turned 18, the draft ended.
I was able to obtain all of the education I wanted and could afford (no student loans needed back in those days, since the state universities were very inexpensive for residents).
I have full access to the courts to resolve disputes. If arrested, I would still have the right to bail (excepting certain circumstances) and to have an attorney represent me (or not). The right to trial by jury is still in full force.
I do not have my own business, but I certainly deal with many people who do own their own businesses, and I see many new start-ups, so I guess that right is still with us.
I still have the right to vote. I even may enjoy alcoholic beverages if I choose.
I agree with some of the other posters: it would be refreshing to see what 'rights' particular posters have found themselves deprived of.
I don't see myself as being deprived of any rights either. When I think of being deprived of rights in this country, I think of the Jim Crow period.
The last time I checked, I have the same rights as you today. This wouldn't have been the case back in 1913, or 1813.

IT HAS NOT BUT THAT IS FAR FROM THE POINT. The very fact that it could means your rights aren't worth a hill of beans if the government decides YOU are the enemy. There has never been a government in history who had power like that over it's people and HAS NOT used it for other purposes than what the excuse was for the measure.
I don't think we've lost many freedoms. At this point, we are about as free in our daily lives as citizens in any other modern developed nation. There isn't much I can think of on a daily basis that I want to do and can't.
Those three sentences are unrelated.
Being as free as somebody else is not what the Constitution was written for.
Yes, we have lost freedom. Just be thankful that you aren't on some government list (or maybe you are) for doing nothing.
You nailed it! A lot of the goofy liberals are young, have no life experience, and were educated by liberal teachers instead of common sense. They have no clue what has been lost, a little at a time. You don't notice it when it's gradual and you have no real reference point.
They consider themselves 'progressive'. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Actually they are "progressive". They want to "progress" toward a bigger and more powerful government.
A lot of our freedoms are being lost through excessive taxation.
It's almost impossible to start a small business; i.e., lemonaide stands.
It's almost impossible to build an outbuilding on your property.
Shoot, thanks to 0boy and SCHIP, it's impossible to smoke a cigarette without taking out a loan.
Just bought some lemonade at a lemonade stand a few months ago, and cigarettes are around $5.40/pack here in CA (I'm a smoker, so I know that well!). If you can't pay $5.40 without taking out a loan, I'd say you need a better job.
