The issue is control of women and our reproductive choices.
I think it all boils down to fear of women controlling the world by their ability to breed.
How many men do we really need to keep the population going?

You are right....they want to control women.....and apparently.....they are willing to pay dearly for the privilege.
Alternatives that people are less likely to use and that don't work as well as the pill.
The point is......paying for the pill will lower all costs across the board.....and that is what should be important to all of us.
I would rather pay a little for the pill than a lot to support the child.
And....as I have already pointed out.....in this country we will pay to support those children.....whether we like it or not. Good luck trying to change THAT.
Condoms with spermicide have rates close to the pill with none of the hormonal issues. This whole rather pay for a pill isn't the same thing because those people on assistance often never used any birth control and some intended to get pregnant.

You are forgetting something.....a lot of men HATE using condoms. And like it or not....they will convince their partners they will pull out or it will be OK "just this one time" in the heat of the moment.
Again, you are confusing what should be with what is.
We have to deal with what really happens, not with what should happen.
I agree with you.....people should be responsible for themselves.....but all people aren't.....so I am willing to do whatever I can to take more of the financial burden for their poor choices off of ME.
And it is going to be cheaper for me to provide the pill....so I am all for it.

If we took religious belief out of the equation would this be an issue? If not, then religious belief is standing in the way of reason and logic. If so, it's a matter of people wanting to micromanage and control things that effect others for their own satisfaction. Rx is Rx, there is zero reason for anyone, ANYONE, to be mucking with it or asking "why" someone is using it. The poster who said "if it's used for another reason it's not birth control"...it is what it is, the reasons someone uses it isn't up for debate. Trying to used "reasons" or "intentions" or "what's in their heart" as a litmus test for anything doesn't fly.
I don't think you understood what was said. It sounds like you're going off on a "my body my choice" thing with all your talk of control and religious beliefs.
Someone asked about a BC pill prescribed for a different condition than preventing pregnancy. I said then it isn't birth control. So, no, your assertion "it is what it is" is not correct. And your reasons and intentions absolutely do matter. A medication can be taken/prescribed for different reasons and the laws and insurance regulations that apply to it depend on what that reason is. If you take marijuana because you like to get high that is not the same thing as taking it because of it being prescribed for glaucoma. One will get you prison time, the other will not. Viagra can be prescribed due to blood pressure problems. Some insurance policies that do not cover it for recreational sex do cover it for blood pressure reasons. So one reason for taking it will get it covered with a copay, and the other will cost full price.

No.....they should not be allowed to slight women when it comes to their healthcare.
Like it or not.....pregnancy affects a woman's health.
But the pill isn't women's health, it's a choice some women make. I don't use the pill, never have. In fact I would never recommend it based on the hormones. There are other alternatives to the pill like IUDs.
