At first I was annoyed by the constant coverage, then I began to watch because there is nothing else on, and now I am sitting at the edge of my seat waiting for them to come out and speak lol. I need a life...
The popes actions, decisions, commentary have enormous social and political repercussions on all of us non-catholics whether we like it or not. To me the announcement is no different than finding out who Canada's new PM is etc etc etc.
Depending upon your industry, the news could even impact business issues.
Maybe so.....
But I don't think it's worth preempting my local noon news over.
Personally, I found Kate and Will's wedding much more interesting than this non-stop coverage of the selection of the new pope.
Sweet, now they can get back to business: denouncing gays, molesting children (then shielding those who are guilty), and laundering money.
Hopefully they elect that mafia-connected cardinal from Milan so we can hear him say "I dont-a know-a nothing-a about-a what-a ya talking about-a... They are all-a legitimata businessmen..."
Sheesh.....in a few years, we'll probably be going through this again.
