No 30 year old would be a Cardinal. They work their way up the ladder with years of study and work.

Isn't this the same argument that teachers have? Aren't you anti-tenure? Why is a 30-year-old automatically disqualified based on age if they're more committed and have more knowledge?

Why do people put these guys on such a pedestal? You don't think they have a direct line to God, do you? I promise not to jump on you, if you say yes, I just don't understand the adoration. He's just a man.
We don't adore him, not like many do the Hollywood celebs here in America. We only adore God but we respect the Pope.

The church is not against contraception, they are against artificial contraception----the pill and morning after pill. Also, don't hold your breath on abortion and gay marriage ever being accepted. They can't change God's word on these things.

This Pope refused to live in the "palace" and lived in an apartment, took the bus to work and made his own meals.

Excellent post. You correctly identify entitlement politics as the refuge of political liberals too timid to embrace traditional religion. My compliments.

All News agencies and networks have come to the conclusion that the new Pope is Religious. Also, FOX has has come to the conclusion the new Pope may be Religious, but Karl Rove wants to check the vote count.

I was lucky enough to get to spend some time in Buenos Aires and the Pampas region (as well as Patagonia) a little over 20 years ago. Buenos Aires actually reminds me a lot of Madrid--it's a very formal, more European city than what I've seen in the rest of South America, and Argentinians are very proud, dignified, more reserved people. It's very beautiful. They have a significantly sized former German immigrant population too (just like the US), so you see lots of very fair skinned/light haired people as well. I can see where you'd make a comparison to the French, because the women were always perfectly dressed/groomed and very stylish in an understated way, even in the more rural areas. They carry themselves well.
