Probably the same thing that is going on in South Carolina, Louisiana and D. C. I have noticed that areas where a lot of people travel to on vacation have many who prey on those that have the money to vacation. Just an opinion on my part.

LOL! Where do you see the rate of stealing on that map?

I do have one more map you might be interested in. The rate of welfare by state map. Guess which states have the higher welfare rates!

So what states out perform here? The Red State of Utah. (Mormons) They have a good share of non whites and they have a low murder rate. Then you have the not so white, liberal states of Hawaii, Rhode Island, Minnesota all making the low murder rate top ten.

All 5, Red States on the most white top ten list, didn't make the top ten lowest murder rate list.

Just more evidence. Liberal states are less violent than Red States, accounting for race.
States like ND and WY have very low populations. So it doesn't take many homicides to raise the rate.

ND has a lot of people from out of state working in the oil fields. The area of the state was unprepared for the increase in population. There are people living in man camps and campgrounds and in vehicles. It has a lot of people coming together in far less than ideal conditions. Also, many of the crimes (but not all) in the eastern part of ND (the non-oil side of the state) are committed by minorities.

With that going against you, crime would almost certainly follow the same pattern.

It's embarrassing for you I'm sure.
Padcrasher, I find your post rude and offensive. Being immoral and not valuing the lives of others has nothing to do with a lack of money. I grew up in one of the poorest parts of the country and we had practically no crime in our area. If you will watch the news you will find that many murders happen and are done by people with millions of dollars. And many other murders may be done because people with money hire someone else to do them. Your post has no merit.

Then why do the "red states" have more murders?

Top 25% Highest: Red States - 7, Blue States - 5
Next 25% Highest: Red States - 6, Blue States - 7
Next 25% Highest/25-50% Lowest: Red States - 8, Blue States - 5
25% Lowest: Red States - 2, Blue States - 10

So it looks like blue states dominate the absolute safest but after that it seems like it's not very well correlated.

Yes, each State it's own story. This is just circumstancial evidence you could draw on the back of a napkin. But you can see an overall trend. And it's very likely, that if you did a scientific study, you would find what i'm arguing correct.

How red are these states?

Have tou seen the maps where "red states" are only like 60% red, and the blue states are sometimes only 60% blue.

Which means there are large populations of the other political party.

Right, but they are going to rightly argue much of their high murder rate is due to their high minority populations. It need to be broken down, taking race into account, so you can rub another poor showing by Red states in their face...LOL

The fact of the matter is your stereotypical most peaceful white in the US is a Vermont , granola eating, liberal and the most violent white in the US is militia state, meth lab operator.
