I don't know where they get Denver as 73% Democrat. Maybe in the city, but that map shows the whole metro. Colorado's demographics are 1/3 Rep, 1/3 Dem, 1/3 unaffiliated, give or take a few. 60% of CO's population lives in metro Denver.
Padcrasher, I find your post rude and offensive. Being immoral and not valuing the lives of others has nothing to do with a lack of money. I grew up in one of the poorest parts of the country and we had practically no crime in our area. If you will watch the news you will find that many murders happen and are done by people with millions of dollars. And many other murders may be done because people with money hire someone else to do them. Your post has no merit.

This post makes absolutely no sense to me. I had never met anyone other than white people to know their name and speak to them when I graduated high school so what does race have to do with anything I have said. I have seen no scientific facts in any post of yours. I think we should just agree to disagree and call it a day. I don't know how to talk to someone that dreams up things that don't exist.
But FYI, I.Q. has nothing to do with morals either. Murder is usually an immoral act.

Yes, the State murder rate is highly influenced by demographics. Blacks and Hispanics having higher murder rates. That has to be accounted for before drawing conclusions.
I would expect if you broke the State rates down by race, you would see that liberal/more gun law states whites, less violent than red state/lax gun law state whites, blacks in liberal/more gun law states less violent than blacks in red/lax gun law states. Same for hispanics, asians, etc.
Actually, if you were to go by Black murder rates, I would have to disagree.

Idaho, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming all recorded zero Black murders.
Alaska - 2.96 murders per 100,000
Utah - 4.18 murders per 100,000
Iowa - 4.33 murders per 100,000.

Missouri – 33.86 murders per 100,000
Pennsylvania – 26.87 murders per 100,000
Michigan – 25.61 murders per 100,000
Nebraska – 25.58 murders per 100,000

Maine – 22.62 murders per 100,000
Louisiana – 22.61 murders per 100,000

Mississippi, with the 2nd highest murder rate in the USA, has a Black murder rate of 10.71 murders per 100,000, far below the national average for Blacks.
I don't think guns laws/red state vs blue state has alot to do with it.
Can we conclude from the map that Republican states have a higher murder rate?
The Republican communities in my state (MA) are the safest.
