Right or wrong? The school was wrong. Ms. Hale did not do anything illegal or inappropriate. She was just listed as a mourner in an obituary, along with her partner.

I take it this school would also terminate any employee who revealed they had been working on the Sabbath, had cheated on their spouse or had expressed envy towards their neighbor's stuff?
Catholic schools will fire a teacher over cheating on your spouse. I know a person it happened to, and doubt she's the only one. We just don't hear about it because it doesn't make the news. And, most of the parties involved are probably glad about that.

I also find it funny that in the 19 years she taught there they didn't fire her for not being Catholic.
You don't have to be of the religion. Maybe you need to read up more on contracts in religious schools.
