Then you are actually quite stupid....
I have moved from the upper lower class to the upper middle class and for over 50 years have not heard Black People routinely and regularly call each other that vile name.
Tell you what, call me a ni66er to my face and follow up with the excuse that "they do it to each other all the time" I'll give you the hitorical and modern reply that follows such an insult.
Why shouldn't the driver be defended? It's still a free country, right? We still have free speech, right?
oy vay another person that doesn't know what the Right to Free Speech means.
The Right to free speech is between the GOVERNMENT and the people. NOT between a private owned business and its employees and a customer.
the driver was on Papa John's time. He is a representative of that company while out on delivery, going to and from the customers home. He inadvertently called the customer while speaking with another employee. That is no longer protected speech. That is speech that reflects the company.
The customer was right to complain and use this as an example to other employees out there that they should be careful of what they say. Just because you don't see customers, they can STILL hear you.
He referred to the customer to a 3rd party as the "N" word, mighty different than calling someone the "N" word.
I'm certain that the couples iPods are full of music where the "N" word is used many, many times.
I don't use the word myself, but hey, let's face it, who hasn't seen a black person refer to another as "my N*****"?
What a stupid attempt at logic and deflection!!!!!
So if I am standing in a room with two white guys and one says to the other "I hate that ni66er standing right there!!!" Then he's not actually referring to me....
Referring to me as "my ni66er" would only result in you not being stupid enough to address me that way again.
I see it more than I'd like to. It DOES happen quite regularly. I think the word is a staple in gangsta rap music.
Hear it more than I like too-Mainly in a few night clubs that I have been begrugingly pulled into by some younger friends of mine. Every song had an N-word, and F-word or calling some woman a *****. The kids, I use that term lightly, thnik nothing of it. I'm surprised that any of those terms still has any shock value considring it has been a staple of some Rap for 20 plus years now.
The customer rightfully complained and the driver was fired. Assuming that the customer is able to move on, I don't think he was being overly sensitive. I haven't seen where he claimed his life was ruined or anything.
Ask your grandparents what they call(ed) Brazil nuts.
