I don't object, but I would prefer that it's destroyed if not convicted. Even non-law enforcement groups destroy DNA after you're matched.

This is the worst ruling ever.

WASHINGTON — A sharply divided Supreme Court on Monday said police can routinely take DNA from people they arrest, equating a DNA cheek swab to other common jailhouse procedures like fingerprinting.

Will they build a huge data base of DNA files? Will they use it as identification in Passports ect?

28 states take DNA after arrests.

I believe all states require DNA samples of newborns.

Technology makes something that was once rare into a regular occurrence. I agree, it's for identification purposes, and not all that different from a finger print.

As identity theft sky rockets, bio-metric identification is probably going to become more common.
