On average, at higher paying jobs (corp hq), just 40% accept the offer. In mfg, it is even lower. My bet is this will be a far lower percentage taking the offer as surely the blue collar will get either no or meaningless relo. and yes, corps bank on that. I'm been with corps that relo facilities from the planning/mgmt side, and if they are typical, they would prefer too few take it, not too many. Surely SC is juicing the offer with job training incentives, and the corp only gets those with local hires.

Default Connecticut firearms manufacturer PTR Industries moving to South Carolina

PTR?

Not familiar with them. Looks like they make a 1911 copy. Lots of those cropping up these days. Winchester is making rifles in SC these days. I have a new Model 70 and let me tell you, it's nice. If this PTR outfit can produce another well made reasonably priced 1911 by packing up and moving south, more power to them.

I'm still a Colt guy at this point, though.

Marlin closed in Ct a few years ahead of Newtown..with 265 lost jobs . (link posted 3/31/2010)

.Gun Plant Closes; Connecticut Manufacturing Jobs Lost

The reality is pricing pressures are hurting the industry even now (i know the execs at one of the larger corps), and this was likely an excuse to leave a high cost state to manufacture a product that doesn't require much specialized skill, to move to a low cost state, with a surplus of low-skilled manufacturing employees.

This is minor, if one the hedge funds in Stamford moves to SC you might have something meaningful, until then this is barely news worthy.

UTC is far more vital than the hedge funds. Insurance would come next (Met Life is alarming), and while hedge funds matter greatly, they would not come close to the aforementioned duo. Guns would come just ahead of the impact of losing a few J C Penney stores.

Keep quiet on that one. With the Sun a likely owner of a Massachusetts casino, that take to Ct right now will end up split in the near future. How the state managed to spend $300 million more a year w/o building surpluses is outrageous.

I guess ya missed the part where I bring in money and my wife works. So shove your reply where the sun don't shine. Have heard it before and take care.

Unbelievable.

The only thing I didn't like about the article was it didn't say that LIBERTY loving company owners of all kinds were fleeing that crap hole called Connecticut.
