I mentioned months ago how hard she was to understand, so I appreciate the background you've given.
I agree with you about West. He is taking so long to get to the important parts of her testimony, nobody will care. Screw the memorial service, March 17th or 18th, don't indict crump today. Between her answers, his rephrasing the answers, her again, etc... Now he's debating her on when they interviewed her, and so far she's winning
West just seems to be digging deeper and deeper and not helping his client. This young woman does not seem to be the brightest person in the world, however, she is coming off as very authentic. Seems to me he should just get to any significant points he may still have and end it. He's running the risk of making the jury dislike him and what he's doing, which usually ends up affecting his client.

You're seeing this through a lens of bias. I see a defense attorney doing the same thing defense attorneys do. They get the witness to talk unsolicited in hopes of catching that person in a lie and be careless with their words.
Why would he want to ask the right questions. Yes, The mailboxes are covered by an overhang. He was hanging there, on the phone...Telling her he was going to try to get home fast, he thought he'd lost the guy (George) Then while he was still on the phone with her...Trayvon was confronted by George.
So much for George's story about Trayvon coming up to him...And, this was obviously after George's phone call, and being told not to follow Trayvon.
She didn't say that.
She Did say tm was right by his house. Are you now believing gz went all the way right near tm's house and then one chased the other back to the T area.
If West is capable of focusing on what's important, he'll get to that, the 'hearing the grass,' things like that.
I believe this is actually a technique employed by defense attorneys. At first, a witness is alert and really keeping careful about what they say. The longer they are on the stand, the more careless they get. They might slip in something asking about earlier testimony, hoping to get a contradiction as well. It's pretty standard of a technique actually.
This young woman is not a "pretty standard" witness, and I think that's why West's technique is not working with her. I think he's hurting the defense now. She is very authentic in her testimony.
If admitting to being a liar damages one's cred, what about GZ, who has lied many times? What's with his cred?
But....but....that's different.
