He was in Benghazi doing things that likely were part of his ambassadorial role. That was by his choice however. No one sent him to Benghazi. And he could certainly have met with a Turkish diplomat in Tripoli if he chose.

Who the hell do you think sets an Ambassador's schedule? Obama? Clinton?

Sheesh...

No one honestly believes that Stevens was in Benghazi doing typical ambassador duties. The excuse was that he needed to go there in September because they needed to build a new outpost and they were up against the budget cycle, we will never know but that has to raise some rather serious doubt. Taking that kind of chance in a country with no government, no leadership and reliant on militia, has to be more than meets the eye.

So, what do you think that he was doing there?

Just like actually showing up for work to do your job is your choice?

Has it totally escaped your attention that literally millions of people go to places other than the same location for work EVERY DAY?

I would think he was there by his choice, we will never know. I don't believe he suddenly had to be in a dangerous area for administrative reasons.

Sorry -

Stevens was the Ambassador. He set his own schedule and went where he chose. He was also as well aware of the security situation as anyone at that point in time. He could have done any number of things if he did not feel secure.

He made an error that got him killed.

Always? Every single time? He had no oversight whatsoever from the U.S.? He was completely always self-directed? I call BS on that.
