Um.... well then you completely missed that posters point. He is wondering the age old question: Who Will Guard the Guardians?
What's to stop the freedom fighters overthrowing a tyrannical to become tyrants themselves.... Look at the history of Latin/S. America, Africa, Middle East, and some parts of Asia.... Just swapping one tyrant for another.....
In the modern age, the pen is mightier........
If you look at the people in this thread who advocate a well armed citizenship, most of us are adhere to the Constitution as it was intended.

Well I underestimated you.... mastering the science of time travel and asking the founders in person about their intent. Impressive....
Otherwise, if you haven't mastered time travel then you are just subjectively interpreting the Constitution like everyone else. Somewhat related, do you have any clue how many different denominations of Christianity have spawned from various interpretations of the Bible?
That's a pretty big illogical leap you've made there. Are you saying that all police officers, politicians and judges are tyrants? I don't believe that to be the case by any means, do you?
What I'm asking is how do guns SPECIFICALLY protect you against tyranny. By itself a gun is just a thing. It takes a person to pick up and use a gun for it to have any effect. A person needs to use the gun against agent(s) of tyranny (and by using I mean shooting to maim or kill):
Law enforcement personnel enforcing a "tyrannical law"
Politicians who wrote and enacted a "tyrannical law"
Judges who uphold "tyrannical laws"
Government workers who write rules and regulations authorized by "tyrannical laws"
It also raised the question of how do you determine if a government act is "tyrannical"? For example, if you believe that tax collection actions the IRS takes are unconstitutional, does the 2A give you the right to shoot IRS agents attempting to collect?
Ultimately, a person who sees himself as "freedom fighter" is seen by others as a "cop killer", "assassin", and "murderer". It all depends on which end of the gun you stand.
Oh God not this again. No, the second amendment was not put in there so you can commit treason. Most likely it was meant to protect against foreign invasion. But there is no way any new government is going to say to the people hey if you don't like the job we're doing just shoot us.

Intent is covered in the Federalist Papers It's some very interesting reading.
Not entirely true.
The 10th states, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
Yes, should the states choose not to regulate in regards to said powers. Unlike the federal government, states have general police powers (they can pass laws regarding just about anything - at least they could before the 14th amendment).

Really?
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. - Thomas Jefferson

The US never used a nuclear weapon against Russia but they sure kept us safe during the cold war.
